Nye County Seeks Applicants for Advisory Boards and Pahrump Library Vacancies
Nye County is accepting applications for multiple advisory boards and three Pahrump library trustee seats; deadlines and submission details matter for residents who want to shape local services.

The Nye County Board of County Commissioners is accepting applications to fill several advisory board vacancies throughout the county, county officials announced. Residents may apply for openings on local advisory panels and the Pahrump Library District Board of Trustees before the filing deadline that will determine who helps guide county policy and services.
Open seats include one vacancy on the Belmont Advisory Board, one on the Central Nevada Museum Advisory Board, one on the Railroad Valley Advisory Board, one Tonopah-area vacancy on the Nye County Water District Governing Board, and three vacancies on the Pahrump Library District Board of Trustees. The water-board vacancy is specified for a resident of the Tonopah area (Area 2) and the term for that seat runs through June 30, 2026.
Completed applications must be received by the Nye County Clerk’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted. Applications are available in person at the Nye County Clerk’s Office locations at 101 Radar Rd., Tonopah, and 2100 E. Walt Williams Dr., Ste. 200, Pahrump, and are also available on the county website. For those preferring mail delivery, the Water District notice lists submission to Nye County Clerk’s Office, P.O. Box 1031, Tonopah, NV 89049.
The county’s vacancy notices, posted on the county NewsFlash page with metadata showing a February 4, 2026 posting, advise prospective applicants to consult the official Notice of Vacancy for details about each position. “For more information about each position, please refer to the official Notice of Vacancy.” The separate Water District posting that predated the NewsFlash reiterates the community stakes: “This is an important opportunity to help shape water policy and planning in our county. If you are committed to responsible resource management and wish to make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply.”
For Pahrump residents, three trustee openings offer a direct role in library oversight, programming and local collections at a time when small-town libraries are often hubs for internet access, job resources and youth services. Tonopah-area applicants will find the water-board seat particularly consequential in a desert county where local water policy affects ranching, mining, and household supplies.
Prospective applicants should pick up a packet at either clerk’s office, mail completed forms to the Tonopah P.O. Box, or access the application through the Nye County website and review the official Notice of Vacancy for any eligibility or procedural details. The county will not accept late submissions, so residents who want a say in local boards should file by 5 p.m. on February 17, 2026.
