Panasonic releases coordinated LUMIX S firmware, S Pro lenses and app updates
Panasonic’s coordinated updates add DMW‑DMS1 shotgun microphone support, let four S Pro lenses use the focus ring as a control ring, and push LUMIX Flow Ver. 1.5 and Lab Ver. 2.0.4; DCW says downloads go live March 10 at 1:00 am UTC.

Panasonic rolled out a coordinated set of firmware updates for multiple LUMIX S-series cameras, four LUMIX S Pro lenses, and its LUMIX Flow and LUMIX Lab smartphone apps, with Digital Camera World reporting that “All updates will be available as free downloads from March 10 at 1:00 am UTC via the global support portal, app stores, or directly through this link.” The headline upgrades center on compatibility with Panasonic’s new DMW‑DMS1 digital shotgun microphone, expanded video workflow tools in LUMIX Flow, and new focus/control ring options for selected S Pro lenses.
Camera owners will see model-specific firmware bumps. Digital Camera World and No Film School list these exact versions: LUMIX S1R II to Ver. 1.5, LUMIX S1 II to Ver. 1.4, LUMIX S1 IIE to Ver. 1.4, LUMIX S5 II to Ver. 3.7, and LUMIX S5 IIX to Ver. 2.7. For those five models the explicit changes include compatibility with the DMW‑DMS1 microphone, added support for LUMIX Flow Ver. 1.5, and improved operational stability. The LUMIX S9 receives Ver. 1.9 with operational stability improvements noted. No Film School urged owners explicitly: “If you own a Panasonic LUMIX S1RII, S1II, S1IIE, S5II, or S5IIX camera, then you’re probably going to want to get the latest firmware update installed here soon.”
Lens firmware updates target four S Pro zooms, each moving to Ver. 2.0. The list in the coverage names LUMIX S PRO 16‑35mm F4, LUMIX S PRO 24‑70mm F2.8, LUMIX S PRO 70‑200mm F2.8 O.I.S., and LUMIX S PRO 70‑200mm F4 O.I.S. The explicit lens firmware changes allow the focus ring to be used as a control ring for assigned functions and add selectable focus rotation direction in MF mode, an operational tweak that can materially change how you map aperture, ISO, or exposure comp to the ring during handheld shoots.
The app-side changes are substantial for video workflows. LUMIX Flow Ver. 1.5 adds a “New Director Monitor mode with clip selection, playback, and rating tools,” “Direct LUT selection for LUT View Assist,” “Customizable frame makers,” and improved operational stability, as listed in Digital Camera World. LUMIX Lab Ver. 2.0.4 brings the ability to select, transfer, or delete multiple LUTs stored on-camera, zoom and reposition frames during photo edits, improved background location logging stability, better Bluetooth pairing reliability, and UI refinements.

Availability and history require a quick reconciliation. DCW and No Film School reported the March 10, 2026 rollout tied to the DMW‑DMS1 microphone and Flow/Lab app updates. Panasonic’s earlier press material dated November 25, 2025 explicitly stated other firmware updates “will be available from November 25, 2025, at 8:00pm EST” and called out “optimized thermal management, addition of MP4(Lite) recording option, and UI improvements.” Panasonic’s support feed also shows multiple firmware posts across October through December 2025, documenting an active update cadence separate from the March 10 coordinated release.
A few explicit caveats and footnotes appear on Panasonic pages. The company notes “Magic LUT cannot be used on some iPhone devices as they do not meet the system requirements. Please use it on iPhone 11 or later devices (excluding iPhone SE (2nd generation)), iPhone XS, and iPhone XS MAX.” Panasonic also warns that “Video files cannot be selected as a reference image” and lists “Compatible models as of October 2025: LUMIX S1II, S1RII, S1IIE, S5II, S5IIX, S9. Please update your camera to the latest firmware.” The Panasonic shop copy frames the effort as user-driven: “You asked. We listened. These updates deliver efficiency in both production and post‑production workflows, providing important savings in time (and therefore cost).”
Taken together, these coordinated updates aim to tighten the hardware-to-app workflow for run-and-gun shooters pairing the new DMW‑DMS1 mic with S1II or S5II bodies while giving still shooters more flexible lens control and on-device LUT management; Digital Camera World’s March 10 availability window means the downloads should be free via the LUMIX global support portal and app stores at 1:00 am UTC on that date.
