Police in Twin Falls released surveillance video Friday showing the gunman’s attack at an In-N-Out Burger drive-thru, footage that lays out the fast-moving violence that killed three people and wounded seven others. The video gave investigators a clearer view of how the shooting unfolded on Aug. 1, 2026, in Twin Falls, Idaho, while police said they still had no known motive.

ABC News identified the suspected gunman as 24-year-old Chad Williams, who authorities said died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The newly released footage added to the official record by showing more of the sequence around the restaurant, where a routine stop for food became the site of a mass shooting.

NBC News reported that an armed bystander distracted Williams during the attack, and other coverage said a nearby store employee engaged him outdoors, slowing him down and possibly preventing more deaths. Those details place the video at the center of the case, not only as evidence of the gunfire but also as a record of the split-second actions that may have limited the toll.

Police first held a news conference on Aug. 2, after three people had died and two others were hurt. The number of wounded later rose to seven, intensifying scrutiny of how the attack moved through the drive-thru area and into the surrounding outdoor space. A candlelight vigil for the victims was held in Twin Falls on Aug. 4, as residents gathered in a city still absorbing the shock of the shooting.
