Rapid Construction Visible on Trader Joe’s Anchoring West Palm Beach Mixed-Use Project
Exterior and facade work is underway at Trader Joe’s site at 8111 S. Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach, with photos from March 6, 2026 documenting active construction.
Active exterior work is underway at the Trader Joe’s site at 8111 S. Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach, Florida, where the store is planned to anchor a new mixed-use development. Site photos show visible facade work and scaffolding that indicate the grocery portion of the project is moving above basic groundwork.
Photos published March 6, 2026 in a Palm Beach Post gallery syndicated via USA TODAY document the activity at the West Palm Beach address, with the gallery described as showing exterior work, facade. The gallery captions and photographer credits in that post were the basis for the visual record of construction at 8111 S. Dixie Highway.
Separately, aerial imagery and on-the-ground reporting from Developing Lafayette, published under Around Acadiana bylined “The DL Guy,” show parallel progress at a different Trader Joe’s site, 1710 Camellia Blvd., Lafayette, Louisiana. According to Developing Lafayette, “the foundation appears to be nearing completion and crews have started forming the building’s exterior walls,” and the site footprint is now clearly visible from above in recent aerial photos that show the store location and parking in relation to Camellia Blvd. and Bluebird Drive.
Developing Lafayette provides additional specifics on the Lafayette project: the building will measure just over 16,000 square feet, placing it slightly larger than a typical Walgreens and consistent with Trader Joe’s neighborhood grocery model rather than a large-format supermarket. The local outlet notes that, although the Lafayette location “is not currently listed on Trader Joe’s official ‘Opening Soon’ page, construction activity confirms the project is definitely underway.”

On timing, Developing Lafayette offered a construction-paced estimate rather than an official corporate date: “If construction continues at its current rate, an opening around mid-2026 is possible. A more conservative estimate would put the store’s opening closer to early Fall 2026.” The report also states, “Additional structural framing and exterior work are expected to continue in the coming months as the project advances toward completion.” The author added a pointed aside, “So take that you bunch of pessimistic nerds!”
Neither the Palm Beach Post gallery nor the Developing Lafayette report includes an official opening date from Trader Joe’s or any hiring plans tied to either site. The West Palm Beach item is explicitly framed as the grocery portion of a new mixed-use development at 8111 S. Dixie Highway, while the Lafayette coverage supplies the most granular construction metrics, including the just-over-16,000-square-foot measurement and aerial views showing layout and parking relationships.
Photographs and aerial imagery from both reports provide the clearest public indicators of current pace: visible facade and exterior work at 8111 S. Dixie Highway and foundation-plus-wall formation at 1710 Camellia Blvd. Further confirmation from Trader Joe’s corporate communications, the developers, or local permitting records would be required to firm up opening windows or staffing projections for either location.
