San Juan County 4-H Announces March Calendar, Club Reminders and Deadlines
San Juan County NMSU Extension urges families to register by March 10 for mid‑March events, lists rodeo practices and pointed rodeo dates, and gives rodeo contacts and safety training details.

Zane Webster, writing in San Juan County NMSU Extension’s March 2026 4-H newsletter, urged families to sign up for a busy March that includes 4-H Day Camp, the county carnival and the first 4-H pointed rodeo, and he listed multiple registration deadlines. The newsletter highlights March 15 and March 18 events with registration due March 10 and signals a season of practices, pointed rodeos and state qualifiers running into August.
Two mid‑March events are spelled out: March 15 at McGee Park MUB, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, carries a $5 per member fee with registration due March 10, and March 18 shows a $5 per member fee with registration due March 10, a carnival from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and an 8:30 pm dance. The newsletter tells families to call the extension office for more information and directs questions to Augusta or to Zane Webster.
Rodeo organizers provided contacts and calendar details for the season. Rodeo Secretary Kathy Mueller can be reached at 505-386-8758 and Rodeo President Darrel Triplett at 505-486-4280. The rodeo board includes Felipe Aragon, Tash Barnes, Bull Chapman, Lynnette Dombrowski and Cami Telford. Entries are listed as due 10 days before each rodeo, and the newsletter lists Mandatory Rodeo Safety Orientation - EMT Training at 8:30 am before the February and March rodeos. Practice days noted include March 8, 5:00 to 8:00 pm for Poles, Goats and Flags; March 31 for Roping, Rough Stock and Chute Dogging; April 5 and May 3 for Poles, Goats and Flags; and April 6 for Roping, Rough Stock and Chute Dogging.
Pointed rodeos and state dates appear on the calendar: pointed rodeos are scheduled March 12, April 2, May 7, June 4 and July 16 with SJCF 4-H Rodeos August 10-11. State 4-H rodeo dates listed include Valencia County March 26-27, San Juan County July 8-10, Santa Fe County August 13-14 and State Finals August 23, 24, & 25th. The newsletter also includes a fragment that notes items “Due in office April 18 by 5pm” and a May 1 line tied to 4-H Day Camp, 4-H County Carnival, Home Ec. School Registration, 4-H member enrollment and last day to add/drop projects.
The newsletter also notes office improvements: a new conference room and a newly installed automatic door described as heavy. Webster urged community outreach with this full quote: “March is kicking off full steam with 4-H Day Camp, 4-H County Carnival, New Farmer Trainings, 4-H workshops and practices, the first 4-H Pointed Rodeo, and more! Please get signed up for day camp, county carnival, home ec. school, and youth get away ASAP!! Call the office for more info. Also, please invite your neighbors, family, friends from schools, or whomever to the 2022 county carnival! Also, the office is getting some new improvements! Many of you have seen our new conference room, but we also just got a new automatic door installed. The door can be very heavy for your information. If you have any questions, as always, feel free to reach out to Augusta or I for anything. Thanks! – Zane Webster”
