Sinai Health Foundation Links Cold Plunge Challenge to Women's Health Research Fundraising
Sinai Health Foundation's Cold Plunge Challenge raised funds for women's health research on March 8, with Crystal Trumper leading at $634.

The Sinai Health Foundation ran its Cold Plunge Challenge on International Women's Day, Sunday, March 8, 2026, asking participants to take a cold plunge and fundraise for women's health research. The event operated on a simple premise: register, build a fundraising page, share it, then get in the water.
The foundation anchored the campaign in a pointed statistic: women's health receives just 5 per cent of global research and development funds. "Women's health is critically under-researched," the event page stated. "Sinai Health is closing these gaps to help women thrive at every age."
Woodbine Beach served as the in-person gathering point for the community plunge, though the event was designed to be flexible. Participants could plunge at a gym, spa, lake, or at home, either solo or as part of a team. The sign-up process included an option to create a team page and recruit others to fundraise alongside you, and registered participants were directed to a dedicated Facebook Group to connect with fellow plungers.

The leaderboard told the early story of who showed up. Crystal Trumper led all fundraisers at $634, with Mirella Gentil close behind at $559. No overall fundraising total or campaign goal was publicly listed on the event page.
Sinai Health Foundation, which holds Imagine Canada accreditation, framed the Cold Plunge Challenge as both a personal statement and a practical fundraising vehicle. "Every Plunge and every dollar raised advances research that improves care and health outcomes for women, now and for the future," the campaign page read. The cold water was the hook; the research funding was the point.
