Stardew Valley Switch 2 Edition Hits Europe, Free Upgrade for Owners
Stardew Valley’s Switch 2 Edition is available now in Europe as a free upgrade for existing Switch owners, with German eShop sightings and a 2.3GB US eShop download option for impatient players.

ConcernedApe, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Stardew Valley is available now in Europe as a free upgrade for existing Nintendo Switch owners, and Reddit users flagged the listing on the German eShop minutes after it appeared under the thread title "Stardew Valley – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Finally live in Europe."
The rollout follows a surprise launch on Christmas Day, which Deepak Chongtham of Cogconnected reported caught many fans off guard and led Barone to acknowledge early issues. Cogconnected says Barone shared a follow-up update and is working on fixes, and that the next patch will repair a crafting-related bug and improve mouse controls on the Switch 2 version.
Barone has warned players about the crafting bug: crafting certain recipes may unintentionally consume extra items. Cogconnected relays Barone's advice to empty inventory except for the required materials and to avoid using the workbench when crafting affected items. Cogconnected also notes a forthcoming patch described as arriving soon to eliminate item-loss risk and to refine input on Switch 2 hardware.
The rollout status is currently inconsistent across sources. Cogconnected reports that Barone said he was intentionally delaying release in regions such as Europe until the patch was ready, while community reports on Reddit and GBAtemp and an "Original Report" state the Switch 2 Edition is available now in Europe, with German eShop availability observed. Both claims appear in available coverage and have not been reconciled publicly.
For players who want immediate access, Cogconnected notes a workaround: download the Switch 2 Edition from the US eShop using a US Nintendo Account, where the update is roughly 2.3 GB. New buyers can pick up the game for $14.99 or the regional equivalent; existing Switch owners receive the Switch 2 Edition as a free upgrade.

Physical distribution details are moving in parallel. Fangamer Europe lists a physical Stardew Valley for Nintendo Switch that "contains Version 1.5, with free updates available for download as they're released," and its product copy reads, "Move to the valley, become part of the local community, and create the farm of your dreams!" Fangamer's page also displays retail notes including "Limit 4 per customer" and the literal line "Only left in stock!" while its site shows new merch posts dated Feb 24, 2026 and Feb 26, 2026 tied to the Stardew collection.
Nintendo Switch Online Game Trial scheduling is on the record for Europe: the trial, listed as Stardew Valley, "can be played for free with an active membership starting tomorrow, January 29, lasting until February 4," with progress transferring to the full game if purchased. The trial description highlights multiplayer for 1–3 players and new single-player additions including the Winter Market Festival and new horse hats.
The next few updates from Barone will determine whether Europe remains live or whether eShop availability is retracted pending the patch; until then players downloading the Switch 2 Edition should follow Barone's inventory and workbench guidance to avoid potential item loss.
