Thieves Hit Soon-to-Open Gracie Lab, Steal Recovery and Yoga Gear
Surveillance shows a masked man with a scooter calmly carrying boxes of solar and red-light recovery and yoga equipment out of Gracie Lab on Biscayne Boulevard days before its grand opening.

Surveillance footage reviewed by local reporters shows a masked man pushing a scooter onto the property at Gracie Lab on Biscayne Boulevard, entering a studio room, picking up boxes and calmly walking out with expensive solar and red-light recovery and yoga equipment days before the soon-to-open facility planned its grand opening in late February 2026. The owners describe the incident as a two-night, dead-of-the-night break-in that took crucial recovery gear just before launch.
Gracie Lab bills itself as a state-of-the-art, multi-discipline fitness center combining Brazilian jiu-jitsu with yoga and Pilates programming. Owner and world-famous jiu-jitsu trainer Igor Gracie told WSVN the center offers “The best jiu-jitsu instruction in the area. World class facility.” Partners Alexander Kaushansky and a partner identified only as Pereira have been working on the Biscayne Boulevard location and said the theft came after months of preparation.
Video captured two suspects: a masked man and a woman who waited on the property, acting as a lookout. WSVN described the male suspect as having a “mask on and a scooter in hand,” entering one of the center’s rooms, loading boxes and carrying out equipment; several camera angles show the woman remaining on site. The original reporting characterizes the incident as a “two-night break-in in late February 2026,” with footage showing the pair during the theft.

Owners reacted to the loss and to seeing themselves on camera. Igor Gracie said, “We got robbed. We checked the cameras. He broke into the yoga studio.” Gracie later told reporters, “We’ll find this guy.” Kaushansky called the theft “Very disheartening” and “Pretty crazy,” adding, “We put our hearts and souls into this, and for someone to walk in so brazenly and do what they did, it hurts.” Pereira countered the setback with, “We’re very excited for the start.”
Detectives have been informed and the owners say they are hopeful Miami Police will identify and apprehend the suspects. National Today reported that a judge will decide on Tuesday whether to allow the suspects to be released on bail, a detail not mentioned in the WSVN owner interviews; Gracie Lab partners say they continue preparing to open while investigators work the case. The theft of specialized solar and red-light recovery equipment puts a concrete strain on the studio’s launch timeline and replacement costs, and owners say they are determined to move forward despite being devastated by the break-in.
