Tree House Anniversary Bash March 7; Back Barn Opens in Ballston Spa
Tree House will mark one year for its Saratoga Springs taproom with pepperoni pies dressed in chipotle-lime sauce and live sets by Rich Ortiz and Matt Evans on Saturday, March 7.

Tree House Brewing Company will throw a one-year anniversary party at its Saratoga Springs taproom on Saturday, March 7, featuring a pizza special of pepperoni pies with chipotle-lime sauce and live performances from Rich Ortiz and Matt Evans, Saratoga TODAY reports. NEWS10 confirmed the March 7 announcement; the taproom has been promoting the first week of March as “very special” on its social media channels.
The Saratoga taproom has pushed into live-music territory this winter, hosting performers on Friday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. and billing acts through March and April. Caity Gallagher played Feb. 27 and is scheduled to return March 27, while Jimmi Justin Music, Russ Kennedy, John Stack and Pat O’Connor are slated for March and April appearances, according to the event listing that also includes a contact phone number, 518.581.2480.
Tree House’s Saratoga site doubles as an events venue, and the company’s official pavilion copy spells out the amenities available to groups. The site says, “This outdoor space is available for your group to enjoy from March to October!” and advertises a private bar with “up to three pours of world-renowned beer or cocktails per guest” plus options for non-alcoholic seltzer and cold brew coffee. The Pavilion copy goes on to note that groups can play cornhole or “host a bocce tournament,” that events are “Flexible - Your event can host between 30 and 200 guests with no drink minimums,” and that hosts will have “your own curated draft list and bartenders.”
Outside Saratoga, Back Barn Brewing opened a Ballston Spa location on Feb. 28 inside the historic Abner Doubleday House, the building Brews News describes as having “formerly the home of Real McCoy.” Back Barn, a farm brewery based in a renovated barn in Delanson, is described in the Brews News roundup as originating in Delanson, “about 50 miles southwest of Saratoga,” and the brewery said it is “planning to celebrate throughout March so stay tuned.”

Also in the regional roundup, Brews News reports that Mixed Breed plans to take over the former Unified Beerworks space in Malta, with Albany Business Review cited for the takeover details. Unified Beerworks closed “around the end of last year” after seven years in business, and Mixed Breed hopes to open its taproom and restaurant in Malta by mid-April with renovations already underway, according to the reporting.
Between Tree House’s anniversary pizza and live lineup, Back Barn’s Feb. 28 Ballston Spa debut at the Abner Doubleday House, and Mixed Breed’s Malta renovations aiming for mid-April, the local taproom calendar looks busy; Tree House’s pavilion language and the Back Barn message to “celebrate throughout March” suggest more event details and promotions will follow.
