Two Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash on Route 15 in Kelly Township

A Dodge Charger crossed the grass center median on West Branch Highway (Route 15) at Silvermoon Lane in Kelly Township and struck a southbound Hyundai Santa Fe head-on, seriously injuring both drivers and closing Route 15 southbound for several hours Thursday evening. The collision occurred at about 5:42 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police at the Milton barracks said.

Trooper Shane Jennings provided the state police account of the sequence: the 2009 Dodge Charger, driven by Jamie M. Vincent, 42, of Montandon, was northbound in the left lane when it, in the trooper’s words, "lost control" and entered the left southbound lane where it struck a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Sandra Y. Ayala, 40, of Lewisburg. The vehicle makes and driver names and ages match reporting by local outlets that covered the Milton barracks response.

Both drivers were taken to Geisinger Medical Center shortly after the crash, local reporting said. The Standard-Journal described the occupants as having "suspected serious injuries," while other outlets reported the drivers were seriously injured; no additional medical updates or prognosis were released by hospitals or police in the immediate aftermath.

Emergency response included troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police, with the William Cameron Engine Company and PennDOT assisting at the scene, NorthcentralPA.com reported. Southbound Route 15 remained closed for hours while the scene was cleared and investigators worked; the left lane of northbound Route 15 also was restricted during the response. Authorities directed motorists onto a detour using Zeigler Road, JPM Drive and Hospital Drive, and NorthcentralPA.com reported that Route 15 southbound reopened by about 11:30 p.m.

Local reporting cited slightly different times for initial dispatch: two outlets reported the crash at 5:42 p.m., while Newsradio 1070 WKOK said the collision was reported "around 5:45 p.m." The State Police account and the more precise 5:42 p.m. timestamp were used as the primary timeline in subsequent traffic and investigative notes.

Pennsylvania State Police have not released information about contributing factors beyond the trooper’s description that the Charger "lost control," and no citations, charges or impairment findings were reported in the first public accounts. Investigators at the Milton barracks have not provided further updates on the drivers’ conditions, whether speed or weather played a role, or when a full crash report will be available; those items remain open for follow-up as the investigation continues.
