Viral Bacon Pancakes Quaker Parrot Auggie Finds Permanent Home After Surrender
Auggie, a quaker parrot famous for repeating "bacon pancakes," was surrendered after two years of feather-plucking and, after hormone therapy and rehab, rescuer Jen Greenberg announced she will keep her.

Auggie, a quaker (monk) parrot who shot to internet stardom by repeatedly singing "bacon pancakes, making bacon pancakes," is staying put with rescuer Jen Greenberg of The Green Bird Brigade after being surrendered for chronic feather-plucking. Jen announced the decision in a TikTok montage overlaid with the words "Auggie has news!!" and the message that she would welcome Auggie home for "many years of laughter, love, and bacon pancakes."
The backstory is stark: Jen has said, "Auggie had been plucking for 2 years when she was surrendered to me about a year and a half ago." When Auggie arrived her feathers were described as sparse and matted, with exposed skin on her upper wings; other accounts used the phrase thin and tangled with patches of skin visible on her upper wings. Jen has also relayed that "One of the main reasons Auggie was surrendered in the first place was because her previous owner struggled with her plucking and felt bad that she couldn’t fix it."
Rehab included medical and behavioral steps rather than quick fixes. Jen reported, "Since being here, we found that hormone therapy, in the form of Lupron injections, helps to calm down her hormones and stop the plucking for periods at a time." She acknowledged limits to that approach in the line, "There is no perfect fix for parrot hormones. Of course, minimizing hormone triggers is a must, but that isn't always enough. I am just glad we have something that helps so she can be happy and healthy."

Auggie’s rise to fame began with short clips Jen posted on social platforms, notably TikTok and Instagram, where the repeated Adventure Time line made the bird an online favorite. The viral clips and follow-up posts used tags such as #auggie #quaker #bird #rescue #parrot and "#rescue #bird #auggie #quakerparrot #bacon," and a TikTok update summarized the turnaround: "Plucking behavior has decreased, and she's in great spirits! Follow her journey!"
There is a small timeline inconsistency in public statements: the TikTok overlay also says, "Auggie was surrendered to me in May so that I could find her the perfect forever home," while Jen elsewhere noted the surrender happened "about a year and a half ago." Despite that ambiguity, the outcome is clear on March 2, 2026, when Jen posted the montage and confirmed, "After much thought and reflection... we decided the best place for sweet Auggie is here so welcome home, Auggie! Here's to many years of laughter, love, and bacon pancakes." Auggie’s story now sits at the intersection of rescue medicine, hormone management with Lupron injections, and a social-media-fueled second chance under the care of The Green Bird Brigade.
