Wizards files DUNGEONS & DRAGONS QUESTERS trademark ahead of toy launch
Wizards of the Coast filed a U.S. trademark for "DUNGEONS & DRAGONS QUESTERS" on Feb. 25, 2026, after Basic Fun! announced a worldwide license to release Questers toys at retail in July 2026.

Wizards of the Coast filed a U.S. trademark application for the mark DUNGEONS & DRAGONS QUESTERS on February 25, 2026, a move that follows Basic Fun!’s Feb. 10 press release announcing a worldwide licensing agreement with Hasbro, Inc. through Wizards to introduce a D&D toy line slated to debut at major retailers in July 2026. The timing links the trademark filing to a broader push to extend the Dungeons & Dragons brand into collectible toys aimed at children and collectors alike.
Basic Fun!, described in its Feb. 10 PR Newswire release as a global designer and marketer of toys headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla., positioned Questers as a collectible action-figure line targeted to kids ages 5 to 8. PR Newswire emphasized the play goals for the line: “Designed to encourage repeat play, collecting, and creativity, Questers brings the spirit of D&D to life in a format made for younger fans.” Tribality’s Feb. 12 coverage added that Basic Fun!’s Senior Vice President of Global Brand Marketing, Dan Westcott, positioned the launch as an invitation to younger players: “Questers invites kids into the world of D&D in a way that feels approachable, creative and fun for today’s young adventurers.”
Product details in the announcement and coverage are specific: the first wave will use three collectible scales labeled Creatures, Adventurers, and Monsters and will ship in blind-pack mystery format to encourage collection. Sources repeatedly state that each package will include a D20 die and a storystarter, and that figures are fully buildable with interchangeable parts to allow mix-and-match customization and repeat play. Tribality and Dungeonsanddragonsfan highlighted the line’s intent to translate tabletop storytelling into tactile play, while Barchart framed the marketing message as designed to “spark imagination, creativity, and storytelling for Gen Alpha, while tapping into the passion of longtime fans.”
The licensing arrangement pairs Hasbro/Wizards IP with Basic Fun!’s manufacturing and retail reach, but reports note some gaps in the public record around the Feb. 25 trademark filing. An original short report states the trademark application was filed by Wizards of the Coast on Feb. 25, 2026, but did not include a serial number or filing basis in the account, and it is not clear from those filings whether Basic Fun! or Wizards is listed as the registrant or what Nice classes the filing covers.
The trademark move arrives against a backdrop of active brand policing by Wizards. Mandourlaw documented a separate trademark opposition filed by Wizards on Aug. 9, 2024 against the mark “Dungeons and Drag Queens,” an opposition that cited likely confusion and the use of a stylized ampersand similar to Wizards’ dragon-shaped ampersand. That history demonstrates a pattern of protective IP actions as Wizards expands into new product categories.
If Basic Fun!’s rollout proceeds as announced, DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Questers will reach store shelves and online retailers in July 2026 as a blind-pack, buildable entry point aimed at kids 5–8, accompanied by D20 dice and storystarters designed to tie the toys back to core tabletop storytelling.
