Awasiwi Woods uses nine baskets and two tee options, regular and long, giving the course more variety than a simple nine-basket beginner loop. The dual-tee setup lets players choose a shorter round or a longer version that asks for more distance and shot control, a useful design for a campus setting where space is limited but play value still matters.

The city’s grand opening was held May 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the opening notice invited people who had never played before to “play a few minigames and see what it’s all about.” That pitch made the launch feel less like a ribbon-cutting for seasoned golfers and more like a first introduction to the sport for the broader neighborhood.
