4A North Semistate Set: Northridge, Crown Point Headline Elkhart Matchups

Two of Indiana's most dominant Class 4A programs this season will converge on Elkhart's North Side Gymnasium on March 21, when the IHSAA's lottery draw paired Northridge against Homestead and Crown Point against Fort Wayne Snider in the 4A North semistate.

Northridge, at 25-1, opens the day against Homestead (20-6) at 10 a.m. Crown Point, carrying a 23-1 record, follows at noon against Fort Wayne Snider (20-7). The winners meet for the 4A North championship at 8 p.m. the same night. All times are Eastern.

The field was set a week earlier on March 14, when four regional finalists punched their tickets. Northridge edged South Bend St. Joseph 73-67 in the most competitive of the bunch. Crown Point was the most dominant, rolling past Chesterton 54-35. Homestead handled Lafayette Harrison 56-38, and Fort Wayne Snider knocked off Carmel 54-46 to complete the bracket.

The pairings were determined by a lottery-style draw announced Sunday afternoon. The IHSAA uses a transparent air-mix machine loaded with ping-pong balls representing each school, with the draw sequence determining which team plays visitor and which plays host in each semifinal. The winner of the second semifinal is designated the home team for the championship game.

Northridge is one of three area teams that reached semistate after winning regional titles Saturday. Westview (25-1 in Class 2A) and Triton (23-3 in Class 1A) also advanced, with Westview drawing a noon semifinal against Lapel at Muncie Central and Triton facing Tri-County at 12 p.m. at Lafayette Jeff.

Tickets for the 4A North semistate at Elkhart are $12 per person per session, with children age 5 and younger admitted free. Games will stream on IHSAAtv.org and the IHSAAtv app suite via pay-per-view at $15 per game or $20 for all games, and radio coverage will be available on affiliates of the IHSAA Champions Network.
