Bremen’s girls program punched its ticket to the IHSAA Class 2A state finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse with a hard-fought semistate win over No. 6 Lapel at Frankfort High School, advancing a team that entered the weekend ranked seventh at 23-2 against Lapel’s 22-4 mark. The victory continues a deep postseason run for a Lions group that improved its record and added a state-stage berth to its résumé.

The Lions arrived at Frankfort after a dominating regional performance on Feb. 14 at LaPorte High School, when Bremen opened that game on a 12-0 run and rolled past Andrean 61-32 to capture the fourth regional title in program history. Bremen’s regional win left the team 23-2 and set the stage for the semistate clash with Lapel.

Balance and interior presence have driven Bremen’s season. Eliana Grubbs, who has signed to play at Cornerstone University, is the squad’s top scorer at 14.3 points per game and poured in 16 points in the regional win. Kincaid is listed at 14.0 ppg and Lawmaster at 10.0 ppg for the season. Bremen’s senior class provided veteran stability: senior forward Natalie Harmon had eight points and Skylee Feathers contributed six in the regional, while Teegan Feathers, the fifth starter, led Bremen with 10 rebounds and altered multiple Andrean attempts with shot blocks.

Coach Robinson singled out rim protection as a decisive factor, saying, "That's a dynamic we have with the rim protection back there. We had a lot of blocked shots today and those are big." That interior defense translated into turnovers and forced misses for opponents; Andrean committed 22 turnovers and finished the regional at just 8-of-39 shooting, with sophomore Charlee Murphy and sophomore Delaney Myers each scoring seven points for the 59ers.

The South Bend-area seniors have supplied both scoring and composure. After the regional victory Grubbs stressed urgency: "We know that it's win now or we will not play again," she said while gripping a piece of the championship net. "We were ready today. We were locked in at practice all week. We were pretty confident, but we know that we have to keep a level head too."

The program’s trajectory underlines a consistent upward trend. Bremen won a Class 3A regional crown in 2024, rebounded from a 24-3 season that ended with a 53-44 regional loss to Whitko, and now has navigated through regional and semistate rounds to reach Gainbridge Fieldhouse. That exposure at the state site will amplify recruiting and college-placement opportunities for players such as Grubbs while showcasing Bremen’s sustained player development model.

A note on reported box-score details: a regional recap lists Guard Emma Lawmaster’s season at 10.0 ppg and includes a line saying she led the regional with 17 points, with another adjacent line listing her at seven; team and game box scores should clarify that discrepancy. For now, Bremen’s mix of perimeter scoring, two players averaging in double figures and the Feathers sisters' work on the glass appear to be the formula that carried the Lions through the regional and into the semistate-clinching win over Lapel en route to Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
