Former Jeffersonville State Champion Tre Singleton Enters Transfer Portal at Northwestern

Tre Singleton, the 6-foot-8 forward who powered Jeffersonville to the Class 4A state championship less than a year ago, entered the transfer portal at Northwestern on April 2, joining two other Wildcats already on the move.

Singleton appeared in all 31 games he started during his freshman season, averaging 7.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Despite serving as a consistent piece of Northwestern's starting rotation, the Indiana native announced his intent to leave through his agents, with recruiting insider Jeff Rabjohns first reporting the news.

The departure carries weight beyond the Northwestern program. Singleton arrived in Evanston as the Wildcats' highest-ranked recruit in the modern era, a four-star prospect rated No. 80 nationally, No. 4 in Indiana and No. 16 among power forwards in his class by 247Sports.

Indiana fans who followed Singleton's prep career will remember March 29, 2025, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The sixth-ranked Red Devils, 24-5 on the season, faced top-ranked Fishers, which entered the title game at 30-1 and riding a 43-game unbeaten run. Singleton scored a game-high 26 points with five rebounds and four assists in a 67-66 overtime victory that gave Jeffersonville its first state title since Sherron Wilkerson, now the Red Devils' head coach, was a player on the 1993 championship squad. The win came after six lead changes and seven ties.

Singleton averaged 18.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists across his senior season and was a finalist for Mr. Basketball, the highest individual honor in Indiana high school basketball. He also ran with Indiana Elite on the AAU circuit.

He becomes the third Northwestern player to enter the portal this offseason, following first-year big man Cade Bennerman and sophomore guard K.J. Windham. His agent, James Conley Jr., has confirmed a visit to Iowa State is in the works as Singleton weighs his next destination.
