IHSAA Reveals Boys Basketball Semistate Pairings for March 21 Action

The road to Gainbridge Fieldhouse runs through eight Indiana gyms on March 21, and the IHSAA made clear Saturday night who's going where. The association unveiled its boys basketball semistate pairings Sunday afternoon via a random draw on IHSAAtv.org, setting up a brutal single-day gauntlet: win twice or go home.

Every team must survive a 10 a.m. semifinal, then turn around and play again at noon before a championship game at 8 p.m. that night, all Eastern time. The winner of each site's championship advances to the state finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The marquee matchup in Class 4A North puts Northridge (25-1) against Homestead (20-6) at Elkhart at 10 a.m. The noon semifinal there sends Crown Point against Fort Wayne Snider (20-7). One note for editors: Crown Point's record is listed as 23-1 by one outlet and 25-1 by another; confirm with the school before publishing. The 4A South bracket at New Castle features Mt. Vernon (Fortville) at 25-3 against Decatur Central (20-6), followed by New Albany (22-5) versus Terre Haute North (24-3).

Class 3A's most lopsided record on paper belongs to Silver Creek, which carries a 28-1 mark into the South bracket at Seymour, where Roncalli (18-7) stands in the way at 10 a.m. The noon game at Seymour pairs Indianapolis Cathedral (22-5) with Princeton (23-3). Up north at Logansport, New Haven (20-7) opens against Delta (16-10), and Columbia City (23-4) faces East Chicago Central (15-12).

Class 2A North at Muncie Central puts two 25-1 teams on a collision course. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (15-11) and Oak Hill (25-1) play at 10 a.m., and Westview (25-1) follows against Lapel (21-5) at noon. Both semifinal winners would carry identical records into the 8 p.m. championship. The 2A South at Southport matches Parke Heritage (24-4) with Triton Central (23-3), then Linton-Stockton (24-4) against Austin (17-8).

Class A South at Washington features Barr-Reeve (25-1) against Liberty Christian (19-7) in the first game, and Bloomfield (19-8) against Hauser (25-2) at noon. The Class A North bracket at Lafayette Jeff sends Monroe Central (21-4) against North Vermillion (16-11) at 10 a.m. and Tri-County (16-10) against Triton (23-3) at noon.
