Joslyn Bricker left Warsaw as one of the most accomplished guards in program history, then made the recruiting move that says as much about today’s college game as it does about her own future. The 2026 Indiana All-Star and Warsaw’s all-time leading scorer flipped her commitment from Butler to Indiana Wesleyan, trading a Division I label for a situation she believes offers more stability, more winning and a better fit for the four years she wants.

Bricker had committed to Butler on June 19, 2025, picking the Bulldogs over schools including Belmont, Ball State, Penn and Florida Gulf Coast. But as the transfer portal churned through college rosters, she began to reconsider. Bricker said she noticed Butler players entering the portal about two and a half weeks before her announcement, and the departures were players she had expected to play alongside. The roster turnover, not Butler’s coaching change, drove her decision. Butler and women’s coach Austin Parkinson mutually agreed to part ways on April 6, one day before Bricker announced the flip, but she said the coaching news was not the reason she changed course.

The move offers a clear snapshot of the recruiting landscape now facing elite high school seniors. The transfer portal opened April 6 with more than 1,000 players already in it, and reports soon after said the number had climbed past 1,500. For a player like Bricker, who wanted a predictable path and a close-knit college experience, that kind of instability mattered. Indiana Wesleyan gave her a different pitch: a consistent environment, a chance to compete for championships and a faith-centered community where she hopes to build lifelong relationships.

On the floor, Bricker’s resume made her one of the state’s most sought-after guards. As a senior, she averaged 24.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.4 steals per game while shooting 55% from the field and 53% from 3-point range. Warsaw finished 24-3 and reached the sectional finals, and Bricker ended her career with 1,859 points, 321 assists and 216 steals. She became the program’s all-time leading scorer and the ninth Warsaw player ever named an Indiana All-Star.

Bricker was not alone on the All-Star list. Warsaw teammate Brooke Zartman also made the 2026 Indiana All-Star team, making Warsaw the only school in the state with two girls selected. The Tigers won the Northern Lakes Conference every season Bricker and Zartman played together, and their high point came with a state runner-up finish in 2025. Bricker also drew the highest vote total in AP girls all-state discussion, underscoring how firmly she had established herself among Indiana’s best seniors.

Indiana Wesleyan announced Bricker as part of its 2026 signing class on April 8, alongside Emmy Stroud, Vanessa Rosswurm, Carley Moellering, Emma Kincaid and Whitney Ankenbruck. Coach Ethan Whaley, who had built a 218-56 record by the 2025-26 season, said the group blended length, athleticism, skill and competitiveness. The Wildcats had just returned to the NAIA Round of Sixteen, and Bricker’s choice adds another headline name to a program built on winning, not just status.
