Jeff Teague, the Indianapolis native who averaged 22 points and four assists per game during his 2006-07 senior season at Pike High School, has been named head coach of the Pike boys basketball program.

The hire reunites one of the program's most accomplished alumni with the school that launched his career. After starring at Pike, Teague played college basketball at Wake Forest before being selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2009 NBA draft. He spent 12 seasons in the league with stops in Atlanta, Indiana, Minnesota, and Boston, capping his playing career with an NBA championship alongside the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.

After retiring, Teague redirected his energy toward the next generation of players. In 2017, he and his family opened The Factory, a multi-court basketball complex in Indianapolis offering agility and strength training and a variety of sports programs and clubs for all ages. The facility became the foundation for his post-playing focus on scouting, training, and player development.

Teague has already moved quickly in his new role, meeting with the current Pike coaching staff and beginning on-court work with players as they prepare for the off-season and next school year. He knows the expectations surrounding the hire are high and has expressed confidence the team can meet them.

"I just want to be one of those guys that can guide them in the right direction," Teague said. "Hopefully, when they leave here five or six years from now, they're doing what they dreamed about doing, living the life that they want to live and enjoying things that they could have never imagined similar to what I'm doing."

The homecoming carries real recruiting weight. Teague brings contacts and credibility that few high school programs in central Indiana can match, along with practical experience in skill development that extends well beyond his playing resume. College scouts and opposing programs across the state will be watching Pike closely as Teague begins building the program in his image.
