IU Recruit Karvala Scores 15 as CIA Bella Vista Tops Paul VI 79-67
IU commit Karvala made his first four shots including two 3-pointers, finishing with 15 pts and 2 steals as CIA Bella Vista topped Paul VI 79-67 at Chipotle Nationals in Fishers.

Chipotle Nationals is at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers this week, and Hoosiers who want to see the state's most anticipated incoming commit before he puts on crimson and cream have until Saturday. Vaughn Karvala gave them a clear preview Thursday: 15 points, four rebounds and two steals in CIA Bella Vista Prep's 79-67 quarterfinal win over Paul VI, broadcast live on ESPN2.
The IU-bound wing made his first four shots of the game, including two three-pointers, then mixed in inside finishes as the night progressed. He wasn't passive when the lead grew in the second half, either. Karvala stayed active defensively and on the boards as CIA Bella Vista separated from sixth-seeded Paul VI, logging two steals and contributing to the defensive activity that helped the lead hold comfortably. For a four-star prospect ranked No. 41 in ESPN's 2026 class and No. 51 by 247Sports, a composed, multi-category performance on a nationally-televised quarterfinal stage is the kind of résumé entry that travels.
The scouting note that should matter most to Indiana is the flexibility. Karvala opened Thursday's game as a perimeter threat, made shots from range, and then rotated to a post-up and rebounding role as matchups shifted across 32 minutes. That inside-outside profile maps directly to a gap in IU's current forward rotation. Recruits who force opposing defenses to make decisions at multiple spots are exactly the type Big Ten staffs target in early-contributing wings.

CIA Bella Vista is the No. 1 program nationally in the SC Next rankings and is coached by Derek Wright Jr. The Bears' roster includes multiple ESPN 100 seniors: Miles Sadler (No. 27, West Virginia commit) and junior Paul Osaruyi (No. 3 in his class). Karvala's 15 points came within a balanced offensive output from a program making its second Chipotle Nationals appearance.
The boys' semifinals run Friday at Hamilton Southeastern starting at 2 p.m. on ESPN2, with CIA Bella Vista back on the floor. The championship tips Saturday at noon on ESPN. That's two more chances to watch Karvala in a meaningful, nationally competitive setting before he heads to Bloomington.
