Montverde Academy Edges Prolific Prep 78-73 in Chipotle Nationals Quarterfinal
Montverde Academy's balanced attack outlasted Tyran Stokes and Prolific Prep 78-73 in the Chipotle Nationals quarterfinal at Fishers. Eagles advance to Friday's semifinal.

Montverde Academy held off Prolific Prep 78-73 in the Chipotle Nationals quarterfinal Thursday afternoon at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, earning a national semifinal berth behind the balanced scoring and late-game execution that has defined coach Steve Turner's Eagles all season.
The five-point margin was the tightest gap at the final buzzer in what became a possession-by-possession finish. Prolific Prep's Crew generated offensive bursts throughout, trimming the Montverde lead repeatedly in the second half before the Eagles' defense made the critical stops to preserve the advantage on the ESPN2 broadcast. Three contributors central to Montverde's season drove the result: Dhani Miller, who leads the Eagles at 15.8 points per game; Derek Daniels, the team's top rebounder at 6.9 per game; and Javion Tyndale, whose 5.4 assists per game keep the offense in rhythm against the half-court schemes that define this level of competition.
Prolific Prep brought the No. 4 bracket seed and one of the tournament's marquee names. Tyran Stokes, the consensus No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2026, anchors a Crew roster that also includes Alabama signees Aiden Sherrell and Derrion Reid alongside Washington signee Zoom Diallo, a senior core that entered Fishers carrying a six-year consecutive appearance streak at the Chipotle Nationals. That combination of firepower and national-stage experience pushed the final count to 78-73, but Montverde's rebounding edge and ball movement in late-clock situations kept Prolific from completing the comeback.
The result carries extra weight for the Indiana coaches and college scouts who made the drive to Hamilton Southeastern. The full 2026 tournament field carries 14 All-Americans and 36 ESPN-ranked boys players across ten programs, and a single Thursday quarterfinal in Fishers put more nationally evaluated prospects on one floor than most Indiana programs see in an entire calendar year. That concentration at an Indianapolis-area high school gymnasium is no accident: Hamilton Southeastern has established itself as a legitimate venue for the highest-stakes high school basketball in the country, the kind of stage where a standout performance on national television can generate a late recruiting offer by Friday morning.
Montverde, which has won eight national championships in 15 Chipotle Nationals appearances, advances to Friday's 2 p.m. semifinal on ESPN2, where the Eagles will face either top-seeded AZ Compass Prep or the winner of Thursday night's SPIRE Academy-Archbishop Stepinac opener.
