Pickleball players in Singapore gained new playing options this week with eight dual-use courts opening at The Kallang on Jan 9. The addition expands accessible court time in a precinct already anchored by the National Stadium and OCBC Arena, and feeds directly into a planned slate of competitions that will culminate in a large regional tournament in 2026.

The courts sit within The Kallang, the precinct renamed from the Singapore Sports Hub in November 2025. The new facilities are part of a pickleball programme launched by the OCBC Group, comprising OCBC Bank, Bank of Singapore and Great Eastern, in partnership with The Kallang Group, which manages the precinct. The initiative was unveiled in October 2025 and has moved quickly from announcement to active bookings.

As built, the programme modified existing surfaces to create dual-use capacity. Two junior tennis courts at the Kallang Tennis Hub and three basketball courts at The Kallang Hard Courts were converted to support pickleball as well as their original sports, and additional conversions bring the total to eight dual-use courts. Dual-use layouts allow players to switch between pickleball and tennis or basketball setups, increasing facility flexibility and peak-hour availability for clubs and casual players alike.

Bookings for the courts are open now, with non-peak hour rates starting at S$5 per hour. Court reservations are handled online at thekallang.perfectgym.com, giving local players a straightforward way to lock in practice time. The lower entry price for off-peak slots makes it easier for juniors, newcomers and budget-conscious players to get regular court time.

The Kallang will stage a series of pickleball competitions and activities through the year, culminating in one of the region’s largest pickleball tournaments slated for the third quarter of 2026. Organisers expect the event to draw over 2,000 participants, creating opportunities for local players to compete on a big stage and for the sport to build a larger community footprint in Singapore.

The new courts and scheduled events matter because they expand playing options in a central, well-served sports precinct and lower the cost barrier to entry. The dual-use approach also helps clubs and casual players find more hours on court without requiring new standalone facilities.

The takeaway? Book early, try the non-peak S$5 slots to build your skills, and treat the Kallang additions as a new hub for drills, social play and tournament runoff ahead of the big 2026 event.
