Harsh Mehta Signs APP Tour Deal After Dominant Asian Pickleball Season
Harsh Mehta, who went unbeaten through the IPBL round-robin with Chennai, parlayed golds in Malaysia and Japan into a landmark APP Tour contract.

Harsh Mehta collected gold medals in Malaysia and Japan, a bronze at the US Open, and the Indian Pickleball League's Best Doubles Player award before anyone on the North American professional circuit came calling. Now they have. The Indian standout signed a developmental/pro contract with the Association of Pickleball Players (APP) Tour, a move confirmed on March 5, 2026, that places him inside the U.S. developmental system with a direct line toward the Professional Pickleball Association Tour.
The season that earned him the contract was built on consistency across multiple continents. On the PPA Tour Asia, Mehta clinched gold in Malaysia and put together a competitive showing in Vietnam despite finishing without a medal there. He then added a Japan Open gold and a US Open bronze, a run that World Pickleball Magazine described as "an exceptionally dominant season across the Asian continent" with "top podium finishes across multiple international opens."
Domestically, Mehta served as captain of the Chennai Super Warriors in the inaugural Indian Pickleball League, held in New Delhi in December 2025. He led Chennai through the round-robin stage without a single loss, making them the only unbeaten side in the league. The run ended in Qualifier 2, where Mumbai Smashers, the eventual IPBL champions, knocked Chennai out of title contention. Mehta's individual performance earned him the league's Best Doubles Player, Male accolade.
The APP Tour operates as a year-round developmental circuit in the United States, running tournaments for both amateur and professional players. It functions as the primary gateway to the PPA Tour, which sits at the top of American professional pickleball. Strong results on the APP circuit represent the clearest pathway for an international player to earn a PPA contract.

The significance of Mehta's signing extends beyond one athlete's career trajectory. World Pickleball Magazine framed it as evidence that India is now "a legitimate producer of elite professional talent capable of exporting athletes to the highest levels of international competition," rather than simply a growth market for the sport. Mehta is considered one of the leading Indian players in the game, alongside the likes of Armaan Bhatia, as the country's competitive infrastructure continues to develop.
The contract represents the first concrete proof that the Asian circuit, specifically the competitive pathway running through the IPBL and PPA Tour Asia events, is now producing players capable of crossing into North American professional ranks.
