PxP Open Day Blends Wellness, Sport, and Community at KL Pickleball Club

Pickleball's premium tier arrived at Pavilion Damansara Heights on March 28 with a model built less around rallies than around revenue. PxP's full-day Open Day ran from morning to evening at the Jalan Damanlela address in Damansara Town Centre and asked a pointed commercial question: can a sport experience curated like a luxury hospitality product convert a curious mall visitor into a paying club member?

The programming architecture was engineered to answer yes. The day moved participants from Qi Gong and breathwork sessions through high-intensity drill blocks to coach-led clinics and community round-robin brackets, with minimal downtime between segments. Beginner sessions and kids activities ran on one track while intermediate players competed in small competitive brackets on another. A dedicated paddle demo zone positioned retail partners and athlete demo appearances as direct points of contact with first-time equipment triallists, and family-friendly mini-tournaments closed the day, keeping parents in the facility well past the duration of a standard court session.

PxP operates two indoor air-conditioned hard courts and requires a membership to play, a gatekeeping structure unusual in a regional market where pay-and-play access still dominates. That gating makes the Open Day's design legible: athlete appearances and live paddle demos were not peripheral entertainment but a deliberate conversion funnel, routing product interest into membership trials rather than one-time visits. Brand pop-ups, wellness providers, and food and beverage partners occupied market-style space alongside the sporting programme, activating nearly every revenue vertical the club has built simultaneously.

Those verticals extend well beyond court time. PxP's Pavilion Damansara Heights footprint integrates a contemporary restaurant and bar, dedicated recovery lounges, co-working nooks, and versatile event spaces alongside its two courts, distributing income across hospitality, corporate bookings, and wellness activations in addition to court hire. It is a model that reduces single-revenue reliance on court bookings, and the Open Day made the full stack visible to a public audience for the first time.

For Kuala Lumpur's pickleball scene, the March 28 showcase also functioned as a cross-club networking event and a proof-of-concept demonstration that premium retail environments can absorb large-scale pickleball activations without logistical friction. Urban clubs planning openings or community activations across Asia in 2026 now have a documented template in which a single event carries programming, commercial, and community functions at once. At an address that trades on aspiration, PxP used one Saturday to make the case that the sport itself belongs in that company.
