Selkirk Sport Unveils Legacy Pro, Legacy Classic Shoes for Court and Café
Selkirk Sport's Legacy Pro ($158) and Legacy Classic ($138) target pickleball's court-to-café market, backed by a six-month outsole warranty.

Selkirk Sport stepped into the lifestyle footwear market with the launch of two new models, the Legacy Pro and Legacy Classic, priced at USD $158 and USD $138 respectively and available now through Selkirk.com and select retailers nationwide.
The Hayden, Idaho-based company positioned the two models at opposite ends of the same spectrum: the Legacy Pro targets performance-oriented players, while the Legacy Classic leans toward off-court wear. The stated design aim is to "bridge the gap between technical on-court performance and off-court lifestyle," a phrase that signals Selkirk is chasing the same consumer who wants one shoe from the court to the coffee shop.
The launch is grounded in a specific argument about consumer behavior. Selkirk cited research stating that "personal hobbies and activity engagement purchases now significantly influence footwear choices, as consumers increasingly seek products that reflect their identity both during and after their participation in a sport." Both Legacy models are backed by the company's six-month outsole warranty.
Rob Barnes, who co-founded Selkirk in 2014 alongside his brother Mike and their father Jim, made the biomechanical case for purpose-built pickleball footwear directly. "Pickleball players move very differently from runners, and that creates specific biomechanical needs," Barnes said. "Things like lateral stability, quick directional changes and strong ankle support are critical. Many beginners play in running shoes, but those aren't designed for pickleball's movement. At higher levels of play, they can affect performance and increase injury risk."

Barnes was equally pointed about the existing court shoe market. "Many court shoes on the market are just renamed tennis court shoes, which are optimized for different play patterns and have not seen innovation in many years," he said. "So, we decided to design something specifically for pickleball."
The Legacy line is Selkirk's second major footwear expansion since the company entered the shoe market in 2023. The original CourtStrike 1.0 sold out, as did its first restock, before the company launched CourtStrike 2.0. Barnes described the Legacy as a parallel development rather than a sequel: "This year, we launched CourtStrike 2.0, along with a new model called the Legacy, designed to perform well on the court and look good off the court. And we have more planned. Each court shoe line will have a specific mission."
That mission-based framework is a deliberate strategy for a company that built its reputation on paddles and accessories. With the footwear catalog now spanning at least two distinct lines and four named models, Selkirk is treating shoes as a long-term product pillar rather than a category experiment. Whether Asian players can access the Legacy line through local retail channels remains an open question; the current availability listing covers Selkirk.com and select retailers in the United States.
