Sezzadio to host record Italian Skate Cross championship with 230 athletes

Sezzadio will host the 2026 Italian Skate Cross Championship on June 27 and 28 with more than 230 registered athletes, the deepest field yet for the national title race. The jump is even bigger because the championship will open to the Giovanissimi and Esordienti age groups for the first time, widening the event without moving it away from the medal hunt that sits at the center of the weekend.

A.S.D. Eagle Skate is organizing the championship on the outdoor facility in Sezzadio, on Via Aleramo s.n.c. beside the municipal gym. The track is listed at 25 by 44 meters, with asphalt pavement, services and changing rooms, and the May interregional bulletin for the site noted lighting that could allow racing into the evening if the schedule demands it. The same bulletin placed the categories at G, E, R, A, J, S and M, while FISR’s admission notice said all R, A, J, S and M athletes who had taken part in the interregional championships are eligible to line up in Sezzadio.

The course itself is the story inside the story. FISR describes it as redesigned, with rebuilt curves, new ramps and a more dynamic profile, a setup that should reward skaters who can launch cleanly, change direction quickly and stay precise when the line gets messy. That matters in Skate Cross, where a fast start can decide a heat, but so can the ability to adapt when the pack compresses through a turn or a landing comes up shorter than planned. The federation also points to the late-June heat as part of the challenge, which adds another layer of risk management to a race already built around speed and contact.

Sezzadio has become a fixture in the discipline’s national calendar. It hosted the Italian Skate Cross championship on June 7 and 8, 2025, when FISR said nearly 200 athletes turned out and about 40 coaches were involved in the wider freestyle weekend. The venue then held the first federal Skate Cross stage on May 23 and 24, 2026, before FISR placed the discipline in Sezzadio again for the 2026 Bruno Tiezzi club games on June 26-28. Andrea Ronco, the national technical coordinator, had already said that the first national stage went beyond expectations, and the return of the championship now gives that growth a title race to match.
