The latest Home Depot move adds a new HVAC distribution lane to the company’s Pro machine, and that matters for associates who already feel the pressure of contractor demand, jobsite timing and specialty orders. With SRS Distribution now absorbing Mingledorff’s, Home Depot is widening the products and services it can push through Pro channels, especially in heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

SRS Distribution Inc., a Home Depot subsidiary, entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Mingledorff’s, Inc. on March 24, 2026, and completed the deal on May 11, 2026. Mingledorff’s brings 42 locations across five states in the southeastern United States and serves both residential and commercial customers with HVAC equipment, parts and supplies. That footprint gives SRS a denser network in a trade where speed, inventory accuracy and product knowledge often decide whether a contractor stays loyal or takes the next call somewhere else.

For store and branch workers, the practical takeaway is less about Wall Street and more about workload. A broader HVAC wholesale business usually means more demand for associates who can handle Pro customers, more need for training on technical product lines, and more coordination between sales, delivery and operations teams. It also points to more overlap between roles that already blur together in a busy store: the person who can track a specialty part, the associate who can move a quote through quickly, and the branch teammate who keeps a contractor moving on a tight deadline.

Home Depot said the acquisition expands distribution offerings and capabilities for Pro customers and increases its total addressable market to $1.2 trillion. That number signals how central the professional customer has become to the company’s growth strategy. Since Home Depot acquired SRS Distribution in June 2024, the chain has used SRS to broaden its reach with residential professional customers and deepen its specialty-trade capabilities. Mingledorff’s adds another layer, this time in HVAC, where demand runs through repair cycles, seasonal surges and the constant churn of replacement parts.

The bigger question for associates is whether this expansion brings more opportunity or just more complexity. In practice, it likely brings both. A larger HVAC platform can create new paths into Pro sales, branch operations, delivery and skilled-trade-adjacent work. It can also raise the bar on training and execution, especially for teams expected to move faster and know more as Home Depot keeps pushing deeper into the contractor economy.
