Ten Former Employees Sue BoardWalk Cake Bake Shop Over Off-the-Clock Wages
Ten former Cake Bake Shop employees allege under-minimum pay and say they were forced to prepare uniforms off the clock for up to an hour per shift.

Ten former employees of The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk filed lawsuits and small claims this winter accusing the Orlando dessert boutique owned by Gwendolyn Rogers of paying below the legal minimum and requiring off-the-clock work. Multiple outlets reported the filings surfaced between February 24 and February 27, 2026, and court records compiled by reporters show seven of ten legal claims from the past year were settled while three remained pending in Orange County as of late February.
The pending cases include three small claims that seek between $5,000 and $8,000 each, filed by plaintiffs including Tyler Dierwechter and Lauren Walker in early February 2026 and Joshua Rock in January 2026. A separate federal complaint by an unnamed former bartender alleges violations of the Florida Minimum Wage Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act and seeks between $15,000 and $50,000 in damages exclusive of interest, costs, and attorney’s fees. Judge Andrew Bain is reported to be overseeing the newest filings.
The complaints list detailed workplace tasks plaintiffs say were non‑tip-producing and occupied substantial portions of shifts: cleaning, stocking, washing dishes, packing to-go orders, mopping, dusting, and handling heavy LED lighting fixtures. Several former workers allege they were required to prepare uniforms off the clock for up to an hour per shift, and at least one complaint asserts paycheck deductions for cleaning supplies and shoe purchases. Christopher Collier, a former server who worked at the BoardWalk location from September 2024 through January 2025, specifically alleged the shop misapplied the tip credit or failed to pay him for all hours worked; Collier provided formal notice of unpaid wages in October 2025 and his case settled less than a month later.
Other named cases reflect a pattern of repeated legal action: Kelsey Radio’s suit was reportedly settled after the business was summoned three separate times, and aggregation of court records indicates several 2025 filings “reached settlements covering owed wages and legal fees before being voluntarily dismissed.” Plaintiffs’ counsel in the consolidated reports is identified as Tanner Riche; he declined to comment when contacted by reporters.

The Cake Bake Shop declined to comment on the specific allegations, and Vice President Angie Daniel issued a brief statement to WDWNT saying the company “remains committed to its team members and to fostering a respectful and positive workplace.” The venue at Disney’s BoardWalk has been portrayed in coverage as an Instagram‑ready, luxury dessert boutique, a contrast outlets noted while reporting that the frequency of filings suggests the issues may reflect broader operational practices rather than isolated errors.
With seven prior settlements and three cases now pending in Orange County and federal court, the next steps will play out on local dockets overseen by Judge Andrew Bain. Past settlements that reportedly covered wages and legal fees suggest the litigation may resolve through additional negotiated agreements rather than full trials, leaving questions about payroll practices, tip-credit application, and required uniform policies at the BoardWalk location unresolved for now.
