Trader Joe's Adds Tucson Store at 2150 E. Broadway to Coming Soon
Trader Joe’s added 2150 E. Broadway in Tucson to its “Coming Soon” page; City of Tucson permits list a 12,666 sq. ft. tenant improvement and Rio Nuevo approved up to $4.5 million for a Broadway grocery effort in 2023.

Trader Joe’s updated its corporate “Coming Soon” roster in mid February 2026 to include a Tucson address at 2150 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85719, and the City of Tucson permit portal shows a commercial tenant improvement application for an existing 12,666 square foot building described as “for a proposed Trader Joe’s grocery store.” The permit filing lists a turnkey buildout covering architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work, and the posting on Trader Joe’s site was visible as of February 19, 2026.
Local coverage and developer records place the Broadway site in a broader downtown incentive push. RealestateDaily-News documents that the Rio Nuevo Board in 2023 approved up to $4.5 million to attract an “internationally known boutique grocery” to the Broadway corridor, including a proposed package of $1.5 million cash on opening and a sales tax rebate capped at $3 million over 10 years. RealestateDaily-News also records developer Marcel Dabdoub presenting plans to acquire the block at the southwest corner of Broadway and Plumer for a 10,000 plus square foot high-end grocery and retail project, with revenue forecasts approaching $30 million annually.
Details on the exact parcel description vary across outlets. AZCentral reported the new Trader Joe’s will take over a vacant building that formerly housed a Dollar Tree at the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Campbell Avenue and described the store as coming “right next to the University of Arizona.” RealestateDaily-News cites the Rio Nuevo planning materials that reference Broadway and Plumer. The corporate listing itself identifies the site by street address: 2150 E. Broadway Blvd.
The Tucson posting is part of a cluster of mid February “coming soon” listings from Trader Joe’s. MarthaStewart.com and AZCentral noted a corporate announcement on February 12 that Trader Joe’s planned several new stores, listing locations in Merriam, Kansas; Mandeville and New Orleans, Louisiana; West Palm Beach, Florida; Johns Creek, Georgia; and Woodinville, Washington. Aggregators and national outlets published varying counts ranging from six to eight new listings; Money cited Kiplinger numbers showing strong recent growth for Trader Joe’s with about 41 new stores in 2025, up from 34 in 2024.

Trader Joe’s itself offered a lighthearted line in one aggregated post, writing, "We’ve consulted our maps and compass and have found a terrific location for a store in Tucson, AZ." Corporate timing guidance quoted to Nexstar and reported by MarthaStewart.com says stores listed as “coming soon” typically open within 3 to 6 months, and AZCentral notes the Tucson entry is slated to open sometime in 2026 and would be the fourth Trader Joe’s in the city if that timeline holds.
With a permit application on file, Rio Nuevo incentives approved in 2023, and developer planning materials on record, the Broadway listing moves from rumor to measurable development activity. The next milestones to watch are permit approvals, contractor filings in the City of Tucson portal, and any updated timing on Trader Joe’s “Coming Soon” page that would firm an opening window for the Tucson location.
