Manipur Bonsai Association Marks Foundation Day with Exhibition and Ceremony

The Manipur Bonsai Association marked its first Foundation Day on March 9 with a ceremony at the Bonsai Gallery in Awang Potsangbam Khullen, Imphal, bringing together senior advisors and practitioners to recognize the association's founding mission.

The ceremony opened with offerings of flowers and fruits to departed members of the MBA, a gesture that grounded the celebration in remembrance before turning toward the association's future. Five senior advisors served as presidium members for the occasion: Laishram Ibopishak Singh, Dr Leishangthem Arke Singh, Wahengbam Brajabidhu Singh, Thokchom Dimvajit Singh, and Kanjam Mangi Singh.

MBA vice president Kangjam Homen Singh spoke to the association's core purpose, saying the organization "was established as a platform for bonsai practitioners to connect and get acquainted with each other." That framing matters in a discipline where knowledge tends to travel through personal networks. Whether you're working with tropical species suited to Manipur's climate or experimenting with collected material, finding other practitioners who have already solved the problems you're wrestling with is half the battle. The MBA appears to be positioning itself as exactly that kind of connective tissue for the regional bonsai community.
