Klevgrand OneShot2 Adds Motion Engine to Evolve Drum Sampler Capabilities
Klevgrand's OneShot2 adds a Motion engine that turns single drum hits into evolving phrases like cymbal swells and foley textures, backed by 20,000+ new samples.

Swedish audio software developer Klevgrand has released OneShot2, a major overhaul of its OneShot drum sampler that introduces a Motion engine designed to push the instrument well beyond static one-shot playback. The update, which arrived in March 2026 exactly three years after the original OneShot launched in March 2023, brings 310+ presets, 780+ slots, and more than 20,000 samples, alongside new built-in effects and an optional iPhone-based controller.
The Motion engine is the centerpiece of this release. Where traditional drum samplers deal in discrete hits triggered in sequence, the Motion engine lets you build phrases that breathe and evolve over time. Klevgrand describes it as "a first-of-it's-kind Motion engine, that allows the user to create phrases that breathe and evolve over time," and the practical applications are concrete: timed cymbal swells, shaker figures, brush stroke patterns, and foley-style rhythmic movements. Think about how a jazz brush roll fades and swells through a bar, or how a shaker figure has its own internal momentum, and you start to understand what this is targeting. The Motion engine can be shaped using an advanced envelope editor or mapped to MIDI CC messages, giving producers and live players two very different approaches to the same tool.
For macOS users with an iPhone, Klevgrand released a free companion Motion Controller app that takes the concept into physical performance territory. Engage External Sync mode and the app uses the iPhone's accelerometer to control Motion engine playback in real time, so physically tilting or moving the phone shapes the sound as it plays. It's a gesture-control workflow that's uncommon in drum sampling software and gives live performers a tactile way into the sound design.
The factory library expansion is substantial. New content includes a Studio Kit aimed at modern acoustic drum applications, a Jazz Brush Kit described as "rich in nuance and character," plus additional multi-sampled percussion, environmental recordings, and nature sounds built specifically to take advantage of the Motion engine. All existing OneShot expansions carry over to OneShot2, and Klevgrand confirmed that new packs, including artist collaborations, will continue rolling out.
Three new built-in effects round out the update. Reverb2 is based on Klevgrand's own Walls algorithm, which the company released in 2025, giving it a clear sonic lineage. The Transient Adder targets punch and tonal shaping on individual hits, while Unstereo handles the practical problem of sources with an excessively wide stereo image. Mixdown notes that the new effects draw inspiration from both Walls and Klevgrand's Fosfat plugin.
Pricing and plugin format details were not disclosed in available materials at the time of publication, and it remains unclear whether existing OneShot users qualify for a reduced upgrade price. The companion Motion Controller app's free status was confirmed specifically for macOS users with an iPhone; availability on other platforms was not addressed. For producers who have been running OneShot since its 2023 debut, the Motion engine alone makes this a significant reason to investigate the update.
