San Diego County Fair brings dock dogs to Del Mar Arena in June

Fast dogs and bigger splashes will give the San Diego County Fair one of its sharpest summer draws when Dock Dogs lands at Del Mar Arena June 24-27, 2026. For fairgoers, it is the kind of event that works whether you know the sport or just want to watch a dog launch off a dock and hang in the air for a crowd.

The fair’s schedule turns the week into a running showcase instead of a single demo. June 24 brings Big Air from 12:00-1:00 PM and 4:00-5:00 PM, then Extreme Vertical from 6:00-7:00 PM. June 25 stacks on more Big Air at 12:00-1:00 PM, 2:00-3:00 PM and 4:00-5:00 PM, followed by Dueling Dogs from 6:30-8:30 PM. June 26 adds Big Air at 12:00-1:00 PM and 2:00-3:00 PM, Extreme Vertical from 4:00-5:00 PM and Speed Retrieve from 6:00-7:00 PM. That mix matters because each event shows a different version of canine athleticism. Big Air, DockDogs’ original and still most popular competition, is all about how far a dog can fly off a 36-foot dock and into the pool after an object. Extreme Vertical turns the same arena into a high-jump contest, with the target rising in 2-inch increments until one dog is left at the top. Speed Retrieve adds a sprint-and-swim test, where drive and acceleration matter as much as splash. Dueling Dogs gives the crowd a head-to-head format that should make the Del Mar Arena feel even more like a live sporting event.

DockDogs says Iron Dog combines Big Air, Extreme Vertical and Speed Retrieve in one event, and that structure gives the fair show real sporting weight. General admission is listed at $17 advance or $20 day-of for Wednesday and Thursday, and $20 advance or $25 day-of for Friday through Sunday. A 2026 season pass is $65.
