Paris Saint-Germain’s Labubu moment was not just a one-off match-night stunt. The club wore a special Labubu-inspired print on its Night Edition jersey against RC Lens on Wednesday, May 13, and PSG’s own retail pages listed the shirt for pre-order at US$165, with an expected ship date around Monday, June 1, 2026.

That matters for collectors because it moves the crossover out of the tease stage and into the official-merch lane. PSG said the print was previewed at Ici C’est Paris - La Maison Tokyo, and the club tied the activation to its effort to strengthen its place at the intersection of sport, fashion and contemporary culture while expanding its international reach, especially in Asia. The shirt was also catalogued in player-specific versions, including Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha, another sign this was built into the club’s retail program rather than left as a simple on-pitch graphic.

The timing only sharpened the hype. The Lens fixture was a postponed Ligue 1 Matchday 29 game, and AP reported that PSG clinched a record-extending 14th Ligue 1 title after beating Lens. French media said the Labubu look split supporters, with some questioning the choice for a title-sealing night, but that debate only pushed the jersey further into the spotlight.

For anyone trying to buy the real thing, the safest path is PSG’s official shop and official retail pages. The clearest tells are the Labubu-print designation, the Night Edition jersey naming, the pre-order status and the stated ship window. If a listing does not match those details, or if it shows up as a loose mockup with no PSG retail context, it is worth treating as fan-made or speculative until proven otherwise.

The bigger picture is that Labubu is already operating as a serious licensing character, not just a toy trend. Kasing Lung created The Monsters, Pop Mart and How2work launched the first blind-box vinyl figures in 2019, and the vinyl plush line followed in 2023 before going global. Pop Mart has even pushed Labubu into football through a FIFA-branded collection, and collaborations with Moynat and Porsche show how far the character has moved beyond the blind-box shelf. PSG’s shirt is the latest proof that when Labubu crosses into sports, the official channel usually appears first, and the resale noise comes right behind it.
