Wizards Reveals Magic Presents: Pride 2026 Commander Rules and Promo at LGS
Wizards of the Coast is staging Magic Presents: Pride 2026 at participating LGS with a temporary rule that gives every commander Partner and hands out a Merlin G.G. Gilded Lotus promo foil while supplies last.

Wizards of the Coast announced Magic Presents: Pride 2026, a special in-store Commander event that temporarily applies Partner to every commander so players can bring two legal commanders as a paired Command zone for a single deck. Magic Wizards' event copy framed it this way: “And in the spirit of Pride, every commander has partner! Pick any two legal commanders, pair them up, and express your Pride in a way that's unique to you!”
The event runs June 5-14, 2026 at participating local game stores. Trade outlet ICv2 reported the same dates and described the rule change as giving “all Legendary Creatures the Partner keyword,” noting the event goal: “The goal of the event is to allow players to express what Pride means to them by their couplings of Commanders, and give them a chance to use Commanders pairings that can create mega-powerful combinations.” Draftsim summarized the gameplay shorthand as “effectively, all legal commanders get partner.”

Wizards is providing a participation promo tied to the event. Magic Wizards and MagicSpoiler state: “Magic Presents: Pride participants will receive a traditional foil Gilded Lotus promo card, while supplies last, featuring artwork by Merlin G.G. This illustration depicts the Gruulfriends, Chandra and Nissa, in a peaceful, tender moment.” ICv2 described the promo as an “alternate art version of Gilded Lotus” intended for retailers to give away, so expect promo stock to be delivered to participating stores and distributed to attendees on a limited basis.
In addition to the card, Magic Wizards announced an enamel pin: “As a special thank you, players will receive an enamel pin depicting Merlin G.G's Gilded Lotus while supplies last. You can give the pin to someone special in your life or simply wear it with, well, pride! We'll have more to share about this pin closer to the event.” That pin detail appears in Wizards' official copy; Draftsim, ICv2, and MagicSpoiler did not reference the pin in their captured coverage.
Community and editorial response landed quickly. Draftsim published an editorial titled “# 5 Insanely Busted Partner Pairs for LGS Pride Month Events,” offering brewing starters such as Drana and Linvala, Saheeli the Sun's Brilliance paired with Huatli, Poet of Unity, and Etali, Primal Conqueror paired with Zacama, Primal Calamity with Spark Double synergy mentioned. Draftsim’s page carries its fan-content notice: “Draftsim.com is unofficial Fan Content permitted under the Fan Content Policy. Not approved/endorsed by Wizards.” A social post captured from MTG News & Reels showed 53 reactions, 57 comments, and 2 shares, with user responses ranging from Morte N. Meier saying “I'm baffled - why are some people so darn triggered? Free promos is what I see not a reason to hate people,” to Cistem Boye critiquing the art as “bland” and suggesting “A rainbow border would look cool and appropriate.”
Multiple outlets published coverage on February 17, 2026; ICv2’s story carried the byline Jeffrey Dohm-Sanchez and a timestamp of February 17, 2026 @ 7:43 am CT. Several concrete details remain unspecified in the public copy: exact promo quantities, the full list of participating stores, judge guidance or official rules text clarifying interactions with color identity and command tax, and any Organized Play prize structure. Wizards’ official page indicates more information about the enamel pin will arrive closer to the event, so expect additional logistical details to follow before June 5-14, 2026.
