Poinpy returns to mobile as a free download after Netflix exclusivity

Poinpy is back on iOS and Android as a free download, and the best part is that it still comes without ads or microtransactions. The former Netflix exclusive had been unavailable to play for more than a year, so this is the rare mobile rerelease that actually removes friction instead of adding it.

That matters because Poinpy was worth tracking down in the first place. Devolver Digital and Ojiro Fumoto announced it in June 2022 as a Netflix game, and it launched on Netflix Games on June 14, 2022. The rerelease also fixes the biggest problem with the Netflix version. Pocket Gamer noted that Poinpy has returned to iOS and Android after leaving Netflix, with no microtransactions or ads to speak of. COGconnected likewise described it as a colorful mobile platformer from Downwell creator Ojiro Fumoto, now available for free on both major mobile platforms. In a store full of energy systems, battle passes, and pop-ups, that is a straightforward win.

That is what makes this more than a simple delisting story. Engadget’s take captured the appeal bluntly by calling Poinpy “a perfect video game,” and that reputation holds up because the game is not asking for a subscription, an in-app economy, or a tolerance for ad spam. It is just back, free, and easy to recommend, which is exactly how a mobile cult favorite should return.
