With the NBA playoffs on the horizon, 2K dropped a physical "BEST PRICE" edition of NBA 2K26 in Japan on March 19, giving players on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 a more accessible entry point into this year's game. The game content inside is identical to the standard version, making the SKU a straightforward price-cut package rather than a stripped-down port.

NBA 2K26 originally launched worldwide on September 5, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XS, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Japan Best Price physical release arrives roughly six months into the game's life cycle, a familiar cadence for the market, where localized budget editions typically follow the initial global launch window.
The game launched with four editions: the Standard Edition, the GameStop exclusive WNBA Edition available as a physical edition in the US, the Superstar Edition, and the Leave No Doubt Edition. The Standard Edition is priced at $69.99 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series XS, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, and $59.99 on Nintendo Switch.
The three editions above the Standard each carry a progressively heavier VC payload and a distinct cover athlete. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the 2024-25 KIA Most Valuable Player and NBA Finals Most Valuable Player, is this year's cover athlete for the Standard Edition. Carmelo Anthony, the 2025 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, 10-time NBA All-Star, and three-time Olympic gold medalist, is featured on the Superstar Edition. The Superstar Edition is $99.99 on PS5, Xbox Series XS, and PC, and includes 100,000 VC, MyCAREER skill and Gatorade boosts, a Cover Star Jersey, and MyTEAM content including a Full NBA Series 1 Team Selection and five Series 1 Packs.
The Leave No Doubt Edition was available to purchase through September 7 for $149.99 on PS5, Xbox Series XS, and PC. It includes everything in the Superstar Edition plus an additional 35,000 VC, a Season 1 Pro Pass, a Summer Pass covering Seasons 7 through 9, the Leave No Doubt MyTEAM Pack with a Galaxy Opal card and an Invincible card, and a Puffer Jacket in MyCAREER. Gilgeous-Alexander, Reese, and Anthony all share the cover of that edition.
Early access for both the Superstar and Leave No Doubt Editions began one week early, on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 9:00 AM PDT, for PS5, Xbox Series XS, and PC players.
On the WNBA side, Angel Reese, Chicago Sky Forward, AT&T WNBA All-Star, and 2024 All-Rookie Team honoree, graces the NBA 2K26 WNBA Edition, a GameStop exclusive physical edition available in the United States. The WNBA Edition is priced at $69.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series XS.

The Japan Best Price release lands as the game is deep into its seasonal content cycle. Season 5 of NBA 2K26 is currently live, featuring college-themed MyCAREER rewards and MyTEAM cards. For Japanese players who held off on buying in September, the timing is pointed: the NBA's postseason buzz provides natural momentum, and a discounted physical copy on Switch or Switch 2 removes the last barrier to getting on the court.
