NBA 2K26 Season 5 Brings College Basketball Takeover with New Themed Content
Season 5 brought 16 college programs into NBA 2K26 on February 20, with Cameron Boozer, Lauren Betts, Kevin Durant, and Paige Bueckers all part of the collegiate content haul.

College basketball finally made its mark inside NBA 2K26 when Season 5 launched on February 20, pulling 16 powerhouse programs into MyTEAM and MyCAREER with a mix of earnable and premium content that 2K is framing as a preview of something much bigger coming in early 2027.
The school list reads like an NCAA bracket fever dream: UCLA, Duke, Arizona, Kansas, Texas, Michigan, Michigan State, Louisville, Purdue, Kentucky, Florida, UNC, Baylor, Houston, Ohio State, and UConn. Both Men's and Women's programs from all 16 universities are integrated, with content ranging from authentic jerseys and signature court designs to a curated slate of MyTEAM cards covering current college stars and legendary alumni. The Courtside Report, released in mid-March alongside the official Season 5 trailer, put the scope plainly: "The NBA, WNBA, and 16 of college basketball's most esteemed schools joining forces in MyTEAM is a historic moment."
The player highlights are specific and deliberate. Cameron Boozer and Lauren Betts represent the current generation, while Kevin Durant and Paige Bueckers are called out as alumni whose collegiate roots get their due respect through themed cosmetics and rewards. That combination of present-day stars and program legends gives the MyTEAM card pool genuine range across both the men's and women's sides of college hoops.
For MyTEAM collectors, the on-ramp is straightforward. Log into the Market and redeem the College Celebration Box, which gifts five Free Agent Option Packs to get your collection moving immediately. Season 5 also brings all-new challenges and special alumni-themed rewards on top of that free box, so there is structured content to grind through beyond the initial packs.

The season is explicitly a teaser for a larger project. Zak Armitage, SVP and GM of 2K Sports, was direct about the long-term direction: "2K is building the definitive basketball universe, uniting the NBA, WNBA, and soon the collegiate ranks under one banner. Authentically representing the most elite levels of the sport is an ambitious undertaking and one that we will continue to scale over time, beginning with our foundational college experience next year." That foundational college basketball experience is slated for early 2027, with 2K promising more details down the line.
The Season 5 trailer went live on March 16, 2026, and the full Courtside Report is available on the NBA 2K official site for anyone who wants the complete breakdown of rewards and updates. NBA 2K26 is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
