Gumba Pasta Parlor Set to Reopen at New Alberta Street Location
Gumba Pasta Parlor's new home at 2203 NE Alberta Street sits one block from where the Portland institution started as a food cart.

Gumba Pasta Parlor's move to 2203 NE Alberta Street was more than a relocation: the new address lands just one block from where the business first found its footing as a food cart, making it, as Bridgetown Bites put it, "a true homecoming."
Local food writer Judith Rich visited the space while it was still under construction and published a sneak-peek preview on March 1, about a month after Gumba temporarily closed for its highly anticipated move. The new location in the Vernon/Alberta neighborhood sits a few blocks down from Gumba's previous brick-and-mortar, in a space that most recently housed Bonne Chance and before that the longtime Italian restaurant Ciao Vito.
The new space is smaller than Gumba's previous location, but the design intent is deliberate. Rich described it as "thoughtfully designed and laid out to maximize every inch," with the goal of creating "an even cozier, more welcoming setting — one that truly lives up to its name as a place for gathering with close friends — or, 'gumbas.'"

That name has always carried a specific meaning: a gumba is a close friend, a chosen family member, the person you want across from you at a table with a bowl of pasta between you. A tighter room, designed around that idea rather than around table count, fits the concept in a way a larger footprint never quite could.
The reopening was slated for March 2026. Gumba maintains a presence on its website and Instagram for anyone tracking the exact date doors open on Alberta Street.
