Fujifilm released firmware version 2.50 for the GFX100 II on March 26, 2026, adding official compatibility with the FUJINON GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR power-zoom lens. For GFX100 II owners who had already invested in the glass, the update closes a months-long gap: at the time of the lens's release, power-zoom control was supported only by the GFX ETERNA 55, with other GFX Series cameras promised support via firmware updates.

The first FUJINON motorized power-zoom lens for the GFX System, the GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR was designed to offer serious filmmakers cinematic versatility and exceptional optical performance in a compact, lightweight design. Initial shipments began in October 2025 at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $5,995.95 USD. Owning one and being fully locked out of its power-zoom functions on the GFX100 II was, to put it gently, a frustrating half-measure.

Firmware 2.50 addresses that directly. The update adds an option to select the aperture value display unit as either "T-value" or "F-value" in Display Settings, and makes it selectable whether to operate the zoom using the zoom ring or the zoom lever by switching the zoom mode switch on the lens. Both additions matter practically: the T-stop display speaks the language of video production, while the ability to toggle between ring and lever control lets operators adapt to handheld or rigged shooting styles without diving into menus mid-take.

The lens itself is engineered with those production contexts in mind. It consists of 25 elements in 19 groups, including three extra-low dispersion lenses and three aspherical lenses, effectively suppressing aberrations while maintaining bright T3.5 and high resolution throughout the zoom range. The constant T3.5 aperture means that once a scene is lit, zooming in or out requires no exposure adjustments, and tightly controlled focus breathing maintains framing consistency throughout.

Inheriting the operability and design of the FUJINON Premista Series cinema zoom lenses, the GF32-90mm measures about 8.7 inches (222mm) in length and weighs approximately 4.6 pounds (2.1 kg). The lens features geared zoom, focus, and iris rings for manual operation and compatibility with follow-focuses and servo motor control, but can also autofocus and be used as a power zoom for run-and-gun operation.

Before using the newly unlocked functions, the GF32-90mm T3.5 PZ OIS WR must itself be updated to the latest firmware. That two-step process, camera then lens, is worth noting before heading to set. The update is available now through Fujifilm's official support site.
