Helldivers 2 gets Warhammer 40,000 Legendary Warbond later this year

Warhammer 40,000 is heading into Helldivers 2 through the next Legendary Warbond, and the announcement is less about a flashy crossover than about exporting one of the setting’s most recognizable Imperial moods to a much bigger audience. Warhammer Community said the HELLDIVERS 2 x WARHAMMER 40,000 collaboration will bring the next Legendary Warbond to the Galactic War later this year, with more details coming soon, during Warhammer Skulls 2026, the 10th edition of the Warhammer video games festival.

That matters because the best 40k crossovers do not just borrow iconography. They translate a specific fantasy of endless war, massed infantry, and grim duty. IGN quoted Helldivers 2 game director Mikael Eriksson saying the two worlds “fit perfectly together,” and that Arrowhead is “full of die hard Warhammer fans.” That is the right instinct for this sort of tie-in. If Arrowhead leans into the right Imperial touchstones, the result should feel like Warhammer 40,000 as players know it, not just a bolted-on set of skulls and purity seals.

The fan speculation has already gone straight to the obvious armies. Cadians and the Death Korps of Krieg are the names bouncing around for a reason. Cadians are the elite shock troops of the Astra Militarum, the kind of disciplined line infantry 40k has built entire campaigns around. Krieg brings the opposite flavor, all trench warfare, gas masks, and attritional combat. Those are not random choices. They are two of the clearest visual and thematic paths from 40k into a co-op shooter built on disposable soldiers and impossible odds.

Helldivers 2 already has a track record with licensed Legendary Warbonds, including Killzone and Halo: ODST. The Halo tie-in landed in the Acquisitions Center for 1500 Super Credits, which gives a sense of the lane this new Warhammer set is likely to occupy. And the audience is already there: Helldivers 2 launched in February 2024, then sold over 12 million copies worldwide by May 2024, while Sony called it PlayStation’s fastest-selling game ever.

No release date, item list, or price has been announced yet for the Warhammer 40,000 Legendary Warbond, only that it is expected later in 2026. That leaves the important question hanging in the air: whether Arrowhead delivers a Warbond that actually looks and feels like 40k’s Imperial war machine, or just borrows the surface branding of the setting’s most famous war.
