Alo Yoga Opens First New Mexico Sanctuary Store at ABQ Uptown This Spring
Alo Yoga is renovating the former Chico's space at ABQ Uptown for its first New Mexico "sanctuary" store, expected to open late spring.

Alo Yoga is planting its first New Mexico flag in Albuquerque, bringing its "sanctuary" store concept to ABQ Uptown shopping center near the intersection of Louisiana and Indian School NE, with a late spring opening expected, according to ABQ Uptown General Manager Katrina Taylor.
The Los Angeles-based athleisure and yoga lifestyle company, known for its apparel, studios and branded events, will occupy the space that Chico's vacated in January. Renovations are currently underway, Taylor confirmed. No specific opening date has been announced beyond the late spring window.
The addition caps a notable growth run for Alo. The company has expanded from roughly 70 U.S. stores in 2024 to more than 100 across the United States today, with several locations internationally. Its product lineup centers on premium athletic apparel: sweatshirts, leggings, shoes and bags.
Taylor said the ABQ Uptown team is excited about the new tenant, which she said will "add to our unique tenant base and enhance our shopping experience." Attracting first-to-market retail, restaurants and services is an explicit priority for the center, Taylor added.

Alo joins a tenant mix at ABQ Uptown that has grown considerably since Indiana-based Simon Property Group, the largest U.S. shopping mall owner, acquired the property in 2011. Apparel neighbors will include Ariat, Carhartt, Free People, Fabletics and Lululemon. The center's food and beverage lineup spans McAlister's Deli, California Pizza Kitchen, Old Barrel Tea Co., Buffett's Candies and Rice Box & Boba. Signage at the property also indicates a Benihana is coming, which would be New Mexico's first, though no official confirmation beyond that signage has been provided.
For Albuquerque's yoga community, the arrival means in-person access to a brand that has built much of its identity around the studio lifestyle, not just the clothes that go with it.
