Pacifica studio hosts donation-based open house to build community ties
Ocean Yoga & Massage used a donation-based April 12 open house to mix yoga, kids' play, Reiki, and tea into a Pacifica neighborhood hangout.

Ocean Yoga & Massage turned its Pacifica home into a donation-based community gathering on Sunday, April 12, with an open house designed to feel more like a neighborhood third place than a standard studio sampler. The event ran from 2 to 4 p.m. at 90C Eureka Dr in Pacifica, and it was open to people who were new to Ocean Yoga as well as longtime students.
The afternoon was built around overlap, not separation. A heated yoga class ran from 2 to 3 p.m. for all levels, while kids yoga and play continued from 2 to 4 p.m. That made the open house especially welcoming for families and beginners, two groups that often need the lowest possible barrier before they will try a new studio. Massage and Reiki sessions were available throughout the event for $1 per minute, paid directly to the therapist, and light bites, tea, and refreshments helped the space feel social as well as active.
Ocean Yoga’s own description backs up that positioning. The studio calls itself a "community-focused yoga studio in Pacifica, CA," and says its mission is to be "a safe and peaceful sanctuary" for learning, practicing, spiritual growth, and community. It also says "your first class is free," a detail that fits the open house’s low-pressure approach. The studio’s broader wellness menu includes yoga, massage, and Reiki, and it advertises $20 off first-time massage and for customers who have not had a massage in the past two years.

The local texture comes through in the people attached to the studio. Megan April is described as a Pacifica native who found yoga in college to stay grounded and manage anxiety. Karen Uchida said she started taking Ocean Yoga classes in 2011 and joined the staff in 2015, a path that ties her directly to the studio’s place in Pacifica life. Weronikah Rocha manages front desk operations and marketing, and says she is passionate about creating a welcoming space for all.
Ocean Yoga had already used the open-house format before, hosting another one on Friday, November 1, 2024. That continuity suggests the April 12 event was not a one-off promotion but part of a larger effort to build trust, lower the cost of entry, and make the studio feel embedded in the neighborhood. For Pacifica residents deciding whether Ocean Yoga is simply a class business or a true community space, the answer was on display in every part of the afternoon. Its contact page lists the studio at 90C Eureka Square, Pacifica, CA 94044, and at (650) 355-YOGA (9642).
