Widower Cameron Grigg announces engagement to Kalli Kodet after romantic picnic
A hidden Post-It in Kalli Kodet’s Bible turned a picnic and nightly study into Cameron Grigg’s engagement reveal, nearly 18 months after Taylor Rousseau Grigg’s death.

A picnic, a Bible study and a hidden Post-It note gave Cameron Grigg’s proposal to Kalli Kodet its quiet drama. Kodet announced the engagement on Instagram on April 16, writing, “Our nightly Bible study turned into a night I’ll never forget,” after what she described as a romantic picnic and a surprise tucked inside her Bible. The moment felt intimate rather than theatrical, a detail that made the engagement read less like a public spectacle and more like a private ritual brought into view.
The timing gave the reveal its emotional weight. Taylor Rousseau Grigg died on October 4, 2024, at 25, and her family later confirmed that complications from asthma and Addison’s disease had caused her death. Cameron Grigg first shared the news publicly in an Instagram post that October, and the new engagement arrived nearly 18 months later, after a loss that had already unfolded in full public view.
Taylor and Cameron had been together for three years before her death and married in August 2023. Taylor marked that anniversary on Instagram with the line, “Happy one year to us. I love you, Cameron!! ,” alongside wedding footage, a glimpse of the life the couple had begun building before tragedy interrupted it. That history makes the new proposal feel especially charged: not as a replacement for what came before, but as a different chapter shaped by faith, memory and the choice to move forward.

Taylor’s obituary placed her story in Texas, where she was born on September 8, 1999, in Amarillo to Bill and Lauri Rousseau and graduated from Tulia High School. It listed St. Joseph’s Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas, as her place of death, and her funeral was held in Franklin, Texas, where family, friends and her dog Jager gathered. Against that backdrop, Kodet’s engagement reveal landed with uncommon delicacy. The hidden note inside a Bible gave the proposal its symbolism, but the larger message was clear: this was a public sign of a private new beginning, offered with restraint and unmistakable intent.
