Prattville Farmers Market opens Saturdays with local produce and family fun

Prattville’s farmers market is back on Saturdays with a short, practical stop for fresh food, family browsing and a morning outdoors at The Grove on Doster Road. The city says the market runs every Saturday in June, July and August from 7:00 a.m. until noon at 305 Doster Road, across from Pratt Park and near the Gillespie Senior Center.

The market’s vendor mix is built around what shoppers can take home and use the same day. Sweet Grown Alabama lists the Prattville/Autauga Farmers Market season as running from May 30 through August 29, with locally grown produce, beef, eggs, honey, baked goods, jams and jellies, pickles, and handmade soaps, lotions and other products. The city says farmers participating in the market must follow rules set by the City of Prattville and the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, giving the weekly setup a formal structure rather than a casual roadside feel.

That structure has helped make the market a steady summer habit in Autauga County. The city describes it as a good family outing, and the location makes the trip easy for people already downtown or running errands nearby. A June 2025 opening event drew a large crowd at The Grove, where vendors sold baked bread, honey, fresh vegetables and other goods. Older social media posts show the market has also used live music, prize giveaways, guest chefs, cooking demonstrations and educational talks to keep visitors moving from stand to stand.

The market’s schedule leaves room for repeat visits, not just one-time trips. Shoppers can expect the mix of offerings to change from week to week, and the city has used Facebook to point visitors toward what is happening each Saturday. That flexibility has helped the market stay useful for families looking for an easy summer outing and for older residents who want a low-stress stop close to familiar downtown landmarks.

Prattville has also shown it views the market as more than a single-season attraction. The city has held a one-day Prattville Fall Farmers Market at The Grove on Doster Road, extending the same public space beyond the summer calendar. Autauga County Master Gardeners have also treated the market as a summer staple in downtown Prattville, tying it to the county’s broader gardening and food culture.
