Goochland County Offices Close Early March 16 Due to Storm
Goochland County closed government offices, convenience centers, and election offices at 1:00 p.m. on March 16 as a storm system swept through Central Virginia.

A storm system striking Central Virginia cut short the county workday on March 16, prompting Goochland County to shut down government offices, convenience centers, and election-related facilities at 1:00 p.m. citing inclement weather and public-safety concerns.
The closures swept across multiple county operations simultaneously. Government offices countywide locked up at 1:00 p.m., as did all Convenience Centers. The Goochland Office of the General Registrar and the Voter Satellite Office also closed at that hour, a notable disruption given that early voting for the 2026 April Special Election had been underway in the county.
Two scheduled events were canceled outright. A Community Meeting featuring Monique Morman was called off, along with Parks & Recreation programs and activities that had been planned for the day. The county did not specify which individual Parks & Recreation programs were affected.

Goochland County posted the operational update on its website, advising residents: "Please stay safe and check back for additional updates."
The announcement did not address whether emergency services, including fire-rescue or law enforcement, adjusted their operations in response to the storm. No meteorological details about the storm system, such as rainfall totals, wind speeds, or timing of the worst conditions, were included in the county's notice.
