Goochland County Phone Outage Resolved, Emergency Services Unaffected
Phone service at Goochland County offices and the Sheriff's non-emergency line went dark April 2 but was quickly restored; 911 stayed fully operational throughout.

Phone service at Goochland County offices and the Sheriff's Office non-emergency line went down April 2 due to technical issues, briefly cutting off a primary contact point between residents and county government. Service was restored the same day, with 911 unaffected at any point during the disruption.
As lines went dark, county staff worked to bring service back while officials pushed real-time updates to social media. The county's official account directed residents to three alternate non-emergency numbers for the Sheriff's Office: 804-314-5022, 804-314-5021, and 804-314-5020, and confirmed that dialing 911 remained available for any emergency throughout the outage.
Sabrina Robertson of the County Manager's Office confirmed the resolution in a message posted after service returned. "The phone lines for County Offices have been restored," Robertson wrote. "Thank you for your patience while we worked on this issue yesterday."
The county's Information Systems department manages all telephone and voice-related services for agencies at the Courthouse complex on Sandy Hook Road, making it the team at the center of the restoration effort. No details about the specific technical cause of the disruption were released publicly.
