Goochland County Preserves History at Central High Cultural Complex

Tucked along Dogtown Road in Goochland, the Central High Cultural & Educational Complex brings together recreational facilities, cultural programming, and community resources at a single county-operated address that serves residents across the county.

The complex at 2748 Dogtown Road combines indoor and outdoor amenities with educational initiatives, functioning as a base for civic engagement alongside practical county services. Programming at the site spans local events, safety resources, and community outreach, including support for the Cool Care Assistance Program and recognition of local agencies for service excellence. The facility also connects residents to information on public utilities, transportation improvements, and historical resources.

Goochland County Parks and Recreation, led by Director Tom Cocke, administers the complex alongside the Goochland Sports Complex at 1800 Sandy Hook Road. The department's Winter/Spring Program Guide is currently available, with programming running through March 2026. Administrative offices at the complex are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Outdoor facilities operate from dawn to dusk. The Fitness Center at the Goochland Sports Complex runs Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Reserving space at either county facility requires submitting a completed facility use application with payment. Applications are available online or at either county office, and all requests are subject to availability. Residents paying by credit card must use the county's online registration system, which carries an associated service fee.
