Goochland man arrested on meth, fentanyl charges, suspended license
A Goochland man was arrested on meth, fentanyl and suspended-license charges as the county keeps confronting drug cases on the road, in court and inside prison security.

A Goochland man was arrested Tuesday on methamphetamine, fentanyl and suspended-license charges, another local case showing how opioid and stimulant enforcement reaches beyond major trafficking probes and into everyday traffic stops. Christopher Lee Pollard, 42, of Goochland, was taken into custody on May 13.
The arrest lands in a county that has spent months confronting fentanyl from several directions. In October 2025, the Virginia Department of Corrections said six people were arrested in a months-long investigation into an alleged attempt to smuggle about $1.1 million in drugs into the Virginia Correctional Center for Women in Goochland County. Local fentanyl cases have also reached the courthouse: WRIC ABC 8News reported in December 2025 that Goochland County resident Don Carnell Batchelor, Jr. was sentenced after giving a friend cocaine and fentanyl that killed him, and WTVR CBS 6 reported in February 2024 on a North Chesterfield seizure of fentanyl powder valued at nearly $500,000. Taken together, those cases show a law-enforcement picture shaped by possession arrests, prison-security cases and overdose deaths, not just one kind of offense.
County leaders have also been building out the public-safety side of the response. Goochland broke ground on Fire-Rescue Station 8 on April 7, 2026, and the county says it is the first new fire-rescue district added in more than 60 years. The Goochland County Commonwealth’s Attorney says the office works in concert with the Goochland Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police and other agencies to improve public safety and hold offenders accountable.

Residents who need help or want to report suspected drug activity have several local options. The Goochland County Sheriff’s Office is at 2938 River Road West in Goochland and can be reached at 804-556-5349; emergencies should go to 911. Goochland-Powhatan Community Services offers mental health and substance-use support at 804-556-5400 or 804-598-2200, with 24-hour emergency numbers at 804-556-3716 and 804-598-2697, and 988 is available for emotional distress or suicidal thoughts. The Goochland Health Department is at 1800 Sandy Hook Road and can be reached at 804-556-5843. Naloxone is available through local pharmacists and may also be available through the health department or community services board.
