Greensboro police probe burned vehicle, road closes near West Gate City Boulevard

Greensboro police spent much of Thursday morning investigating a burned vehicle in a parking lot behind a business on Boulevard Way, a scene that closed part of the road near West Gate City Boulevard and slowed travel through the area. The street later reopened after several hours of evidence collection, but crews kept the block active for most of the morning as investigators worked around the damaged vehicle and nearby debris.

The Greensboro Fire Department said firefighters reached the scene at about 4:15 a.m. after the initial call came in, and police were dispatched soon after. Boulevard Way was closed from West Gate City Boulevard to Boulevard Street while investigators examined the area and collected evidence. One person was burned and taken to a hospital for treatment.

WXII reported that officers found a burned car in a parking lot behind a business, with clothing lying on the pavement nearby. FOX8 reported the vehicle was a gray minivan with severe damage. Arson investigators and crime scene investigators swabbed the vehicle, photographed the scene and had it towed away as part of the inquiry.

A witness, Laquisha Robinson, told FOX8 she saw a van smoking and thought the crew was practicing, underscoring how quickly the scene drew attention in the early morning hours. By later in the day, police said Boulevard Way had reopened after the investigation, but officials had not released a cause for the fire or identified the injured person. For now, the burned vehicle remains the focus of a still-open Greensboro police investigation.
