Lordsburg plans parade, free pool time and fireworks for July 4

Lordsburg will mark July 4 with its annual parade and festivities, free swimming at the Lordsburg Municipal Swimming Pool from 4 to 9 p.m. and fireworks beginning at dusk. The City of Lordsburg and the Lordsburg Volunteer Fire Department are organizing the pyrotechnic show, keeping the holiday centered in the city’s downtown core and public recreation spaces.

The city’s fireworks notice says there are no fireworks restrictions in city limits from June 20 through July 5. It also says fireworks may not be shot after 10 p.m., except until midnight on July 4. That rule matters in a town where the holiday blends neighborhood celebrations with a larger public event, and where the police department says it works in partnership with the community to improve quality of life issues under Chief Rodney Plowman.

The holiday schedule reaches beyond Lordsburg itself. The Lordsburg-Hidalgo Chamber of Commerce lists Rodeo’s 4th of July Celebration & Parade and Lordsburg’s Fabulous Fireworks Show for July 4, showing that Hidalgo County’s Independence Day events are spread across more than one community. The same chamber calendar also places the Jessie Darnell 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on the second weekend in July and the Hidalgo County Fair on the third weekend in August.

For families, the free pool hours offer a low-cost afternoon option before the evening crowds gather for fireworks. For travelers moving through the bootheel, the county calendar makes clear that July 4 remains one of the busiest shared weekends of the summer, with holiday events still anchored in places like Lordsburg and Rodeo.
